Haha. Nas pretty much said the same, when pressed why he responded “because he’s the bomber isn’t he”
Bellew v Uysk, Dillian v Dereck, Khan v Brook/Pacman. 2 of those 3 will be your November/December Eddie PPV shedule. Its a lovely bridging fight to the Heavyweights for Usyk and the wider UK public, pays well also.
A great man Jamie is, but it's another case of "backing your own". Usyk would retire Tony. ANYONE who gets mentioned in the same breath as Holyfield @ CW as being 'the greatest" would give Bellew a Boxing lesson.
As an undisputed he will get ranked high right off the bat and will need 1-2 fights at most to become a mandatory. He could probably become WBC mandatory in 2 fights, his promoter Vitali is on very good terms with Sulaiman.
Bellew wouldn't fight usyk for all the shell suits in Liverpool, he is only interested in half fit has beens.
Be flabbergasted if Bellew goes to CW for this. He'd want it at HW and he'll be soundly schooled at that weight too.
I think he’s gotta come down for it, mate. It’s an opportunity to win all the belts. What a way to finish your career if he landed one right on the button.
if this fight happens, it has to be at cruiserweight. there's no point in having it at heavyweight as far as Bellew is concerned. This doesn't impact legacy as much without the belts on the line
Agree. You’ve surely got to come down and challenge for the belts. Even if you lose you fought the man with all 4 belts. There’s no shame in that. It would be the PPV selling point too. The invincible Usyk holding all 4 belts against the UK PPV P4P number 2 and WBC champion in emiratus or whatever it’s called.
Agreed mate. There’s no shame saying he lost to someone who is inevitably going to become an ATG....but he has genuinely got a chance imo. He’s savvy in the ring, he won’t approach the fight like a Gassiev and fight on the front foot. As brilliant as Gassiev is, he continued to push Usyk for 12 rounds on the front foot. He never adapted and took shots on his way in constantly. Gassiev does his thing very well, he’s world class, but it’s also his only approach. Bellew will adapt throughout a fight and he will have small pockets of success...it’s whether he can make something of it.
