I've just finished reading it, titled The Lost Soul of Eamonn Magee. Arguably the best boxing book I've read so far. Highly engrossing from start to finish. A cautionary tale on how not to be a professional sportsperson / live your live but with plenty of hilarious shenanigans along the way. Has anyone else on hear read it? If not, highly recommended 10/10. HT
Read a very good article about it a few weeks ago, and forgot all about it . Definitely going to get this.
Before overrating Ricky Hatton people should bear in mind he struggled with this drug addled psychotic alcoholic....
Cheers for the heads-up. Will look out for this as I've always found Magee an interesting character, who could have made more waves at world level.
Magee was talented , and a southpaw. A hardy man Magee, and with more dedication could've gone further..
What was the reason for getting his legs broke ?? Was it the IRA or?? Don't laugh, but I heard it of a very reputable source that it was over a snowball
Yes. Over a snowball From memory (read it couple of months ago), bit of history with the bloke and he was also IRA so Magee couldn’t do a lot
