Atm, yes. WBSS has the better names and is already set in motion. But DAZN needs more than that. DAZN wants to break into the U.S. market so they need a steady stream of U.S. events. WBSS does not deliver that. But Eddie does. (Jessie Vargas )

Kinda true. Eddie wants AJ on DAZN, but the Wilder fight timing was bad for it. So Eddie would not risk it. It's the biggest fight and the riskiest.

 

I've read this whole thread and you seemed far more reasonable than most! A bit strange you were singled out for so much criticism. I can only assume it was your will to engage!

For what it's worth, I agree with everything you've said here. As I said previously, I don't see how Matchroom can deliver on any of Eddie Hearn's major claims without a few years of groundwork and a bit of good fortune, but the WBSS is hardly the key to quick success in the US either.

I believe the pomp and circumstance of the Matchroom-DAZN announcement has irked many fans and not achieved the positive buzz they were aiming for. I would say it backfired in the sense it didn't lead to the intended exodus of PBC/Showtime fighters to Matchroom/DAZN and it has exposed some dishonesty on the part of Eddie Hearn through his need to preserve Joshua. However, that doesn't signify imminent failure of the entire venture. I think it was one strategy, and since it didn't work out, they will try another more long-term strategy based around Joshua.

I imagine DAZN will speculate a fair bit in the first two years and stick with whatever is driving their business best. The great advantage they have is that the metrics of a streaming service are extremely granular and instantly available. They will know very quickly exactly what is getting views and driving subscriptions and exactly and what isn't.

 

I got the criticism because i didn't agree with some of the points that were made.

And the more i fought back the more ridiculous it got. At first they used counter arguments but by now they are just calling me a "dick rider" no matter what i say. It is what it is. (And i am having fun with it now)

 

Fish eyes does not have Sky which is the Preimer Network and gives Hearn the clout to sign big fighters and a big platform. In my eyes, their is only one promoter in the UK and it's definitely not Warren.

The reason why Hearn gets criticised is beacuse he has the more resources at his disposal and ends us giving more **** fights than warren. I truly worry for Hearn and that filthy mouth of his when he's in America. They really don't like gobby, flashy Brits over there especially in Chicago where Hearn is planning a fight show.

 

Be realistic. I wouldn't even trust Fish eyes with a fiver never mind 1B.

 

He speaks PURPOSELY with ignorance. He knows how big America is, he knows how big NFL, NBA college Football is. He knows it's entirely different in the US. He is making the fatal mistake of trying to incoporate UK Culture into America. He needs to read up on 1776. He knows how different in sheer scale the US and UK is. If Wilder was born in the UK he'd be a mega star, if Joshua was born in the US, he wouldn't be anything, just another name. But you get my point....

Hearn knows all this, he does it on purpose and in the US he needs to watch his back. One phone call and things can change rapidly.
