He is great but the expected goons are hyping him. That's always annoying it has to be said. Those same goons tend to be the predictable ethnic cheerleaders, too, and troll baiters. They also live most in the moment and know less about historical context than the other half. Nobody likes reading/hearing that. It's totally understandable when you surf boxing forums like we do to dislike a fighter based on their fans (for me; Hopkins, Golovkin). However, that is selective. So usually it's a fighter you don't root for that the fans actually make you root against.

 

If you let FANS ruin your enjoying a great fighter then you're a complete idiot and a casual fan. Sure some fanbase can be annoying but attack the fanbases, not the fighter themselves... So many on here aren't able to distinguish between the two.

He's going to become the new Kovalev and the backlash if/when he does lose is going to be something to behold.

As OP says cruiserweight has been a worthless division for a long time, it's a cool achievement to unify it but the hype has gone so overboard when people are handing him the undisputed heavyweight title in fantasy fights.

He is a very skilled fighter and be interesting to see what he does at heavyweight but time will tell.

People saying cruiser is garbage are getting onto the short bus in the mornings.

Cruiser is a friggin shark tank. Dorticos, Gassiev, Glowacki, Huck, Breidis, Hunter, Mchunu, Lebedev, and to a lesser extent maybe, Afolabi, Vlasov and even Perez, who fought Breidis, are all skilled and dangerous boxers.
