Who’s Tourney Winning Run Was More Impressive? Usyk’s Or Wards?

Froch and Kessler are HOF'ers. Maybe Briedis and Gassiev go on to do great things but until they reach that sort of level which currently they are not close, this is not a conversation. Abraham levels with Huck and Green is just another bonus to tack on as if the debate was currently close enough for that to even matter.

 

Maybe but I'll be surprised if either get in. Ward & Calzaghe are but I'd be surprised if Froch gets in.. Tends to be the top dogs of an era, the p4pers or fighter's who stood out for historical reasons (ATG fights, cultural impact etc).. He deserves to go in but I wouldn't bank on it. Not a given at all..

 

Nah...He might be more skilled, but beating Charr and Huck isn't enough to put him past the Cobra.

 

Usyk. Traveled for every fight, didn't need to have a personal ref/commission that allowed him to headbutt the biggest threat in the tournament to oblivion. Definitely more impressive.

 

Definitely Usyk. Defeated all the big players on his way to winning all of the belts, and doing it in more spectacular fashion, with each fight being on his opponent's home turf.

Ward, on the other hand, had done great achievement in his own right in the Super 6, but it wasn't done as spectacularly, and he had home advantage in all of his fight (which was in contrast to the planned Super 6 rules). Also, Ward ended up being a "de facto" 168lb kingpin with winning 2 titles, while Usyk achieved undisputed champion status with winning all of the 4 belts. Historical achievement edge goes to Usyk as well.

 

Usyk without question.

 

Wards run was very impressive he beat guys who everyone knew and were proven fighters.

Usyks run MAY age and become even better over wards depending on how his opponents do

 

Honestly what you are saying is irrelevant, they are saying Usyk because he had to travel making it harder on him than Ward who fought at home..

The reasons why one had to travel isn't part of the discussion..

His resume is less impressive, but his skills and H2H ability are superior.

 

Skills are probably in favor of Bredis, yeah. In terms of proven H2H ability, it remains to be seen just how good Bredis actually is, at least at this point. He might well turn out to be better in that regard, and even in terms of resume. But I'm hesitant to put him ahead of Froch until he faces at least a couple more big names.

 

He packed Wembley. He's getting in.

 

Froch is the greater fighter. Bredis is the better fighter IMO. And I think he will continue to show that. When Usyk leaves expect him to completely take over CW.

 

Why do people go on about Ward not fighting outside of US?
This would only be a factor if some of his fights were close fights and fighting away could have affected the decision. As I see it he has clearly dominated everyone he has faced and the decisions would never have been any different regardless of where they fought.
