Has there ever been a boxer like wilder?

Deontay Wilder is a poor technical Boxer but 40 fight in he has really honed his style and he doesnt even try to outbox his opposition he just spends the whole fight trying to line up and tee off his bombs. He has got really good at what he does and it is clearly effective for him to be sat where he is. There have been plenty of Boxers who have adopted a similar game plan but they never really make it to the top. Widler has.

Although saying that he has been very well matched so far, these other guys that have adopeted similar styles got those style picked apart when they tried fighting at the highest level. 40 fights in and old man Ortiz is the only opposition that we can really say was close to being a test against the best. He still could get found out yet.

I love his style though, never miss his fights.

 

Nice post. As awkward as he looks at times (most of the time?), ultimately, Deontay has been effective. Another poster mentioned Vitali K and that was a comparison that came to mind with me as well. These guys are so tall and rangy that what for them are small movements of their body (that aren't necessarily aesthetically pleasing) are enough to give them the position that they are looking for. Imo, neither get enough credit for this aspect of their game.

Not to mention his accuracy, Everybody goes on about his windmilling but thats when he gets too giddy trying to get the finish. That shot he finished Szpilka off with is a massivly underrated shot. He knew the Poles head was coming in at the angle it was, waited for it to happen and met it dead on with a deadly short and accurate blow. That whole movement was a moment of beauty.

 

think i'll speak on behalf of the other posters on here, why didn't you just write the 2 lines that was on topic. nobody knows what your on about.

It's been awhile since I've seen that fight. I remember being
impressed with Szpilka's chin though not that particular shot. Will go take a look when I get a chance, but yeah, there are some nice punches thrown amongst the windmills.

 

As I've said many times THIS is why they are pushing for that AJ fight now now now as wilder enters his mid 30s because he only needs to lose 10% of his athleticism and he's in massive trouble.

It's his own fault for waiting until he was almost 33 to finally step up because AJ has the option of simply stalling until wilder reaches 35

When everyone gets their opinions from the same sources they all have the same opinions. If you want to hear a new opinion on a subject look for a new source.

You can't honestly tell me you've never wondered why folks like to argue about the same bull**** repeatedly over and over again using the same terms and theories to prove their points to one another. I'm saying y'all don't know how to break out of that cycle because you are either too lazy to put in the work or scared of saying anything terribly outside the norm. The pool of sources you are willing to utilize is what is sold to you not what you have to go out of your way to find. What's sold is what is the popular mindset of a time not the only or correct mindset. Colorline's an easy one isn't it? You're well aware that during their time popular belief was blacks were not equal. That is to say folks who get their information from outlets like ESPN today would have believed black men are not equal back then. It was the popular belief spread by the popular outlet and so most fans would argue in terms of race. However nationality is an argument you can find at the time and with history rolling on the way it did nationality seems to have been the correct argument to look at. America became the premier boxing state regardless of color. Ukraine is kicking ass right now. You wouldn't find it amongst the popular outlets speaking about race but that doesn't mean it didn't exist. Same difference for the present. Wilder can't box because both fan s and haters looks to popular outlets for their entire education.

Let me be clear, I do not mean unverified is better, I mean read a history book, learn the perspectives that used to be popular, and see if Wilder fits the bill for what he says he is; a throwback.

I do regard most of youse as just as silly and stupid as the past fans who blindly argued in the terms given to them by promoters and journalists. Take a look at who they used to be, you sure you want to get all your information for boxing from present sources? They're all propaganda and the only time you get to read what was bull**** and what was truth is when it becomes past. Read a book, grow as a fan, learn a new perspective.

I think that shot was more of a happy accident. I mean, the wildly missed a bunch of shots at Charlie Z for ****s sake.
