Has British heavyweight boxing talent ever been so deep?

    AJ
    Whyte
    Chisora
    Dubois
    Joyce

It's a healthy division, has it ever been better than this?

The current Heavyweight Division is the worst ever in history and the British mob are simply average turd.

Tony Dosh and Wilder are the only 2 current potential elite fighters with both having serious questions to answer before we use the word elite. Too early to comment on Dubois or Joyce.

Whyte, Chisora, Fury, Price, Skirt Fury, Haye, Bellew never elite fighters.

Yes it was far better with Lewis and Bruno fighting fighters that were simply levels above the current crop of excrement.

You failed to mention the most talented out of the lot, Tyson, and Hughie has more boxing talent than all on the list too.

Gorman also more talented than Dubois.

Anyway yes probably. But tbh Whyte didn’t show THAT much talent tonight. He won because Parker didn’t take his chances, a headbutt that was scored as a KD and by sheer grit and roughhouse tactics rather than boxing talent.

I take it you mean relative to the world scene. In which case yeah we are doing well, but we shouldn't kid ourselves about how poor the whole lot is at the moment.

I'm just really hoping Fury properly comes back. I don't think he peaked against Wlad, he could have been even better. I'm holding out hope we see him prove it. If that happens then, along with Joshua, we've got a lot to shout about...

Tyson Fury only back for a PPV payday against Bellew mate

He won't be near elite level again

    No way!

Bring back Audley, Williams, Sprott and Skelton.

These eddie hearn ppv mugs are just conning the casuals.

Those were the good old days.

I prefer my heavyweight title fights at 4am and NOT involving a brit. Two domestic level brits down York hall in a 12 round snoozer to warm up

    Yeah thats my jam

Uh, friend, the post-Lennox Lewis division, roughly 2006-2009, was the worst ever. Wladdy doing his impersonation of a basketball. Vitali getting injured every five minutes and quitting. Post car-accident Golota trouncing two "champions" and getting robbed. Byrd in a fight so bad they threatened to withhold purses. Fat steroids Middleweight James Toney a major force. Sam Peter being pushed as a real fighter. Shot Rahmen winning a belt and losing to even shotter/bigger loser Maskaev. Holyfield coming back as a major force. Briggs. Johnny Ruiz-Chagaev-Valeuv triangle of death. Harrison-Skelton-Williams-Sprott quadrangle of death.

These guys aren't the best either, but they are light years ahead of that morbid division.

Have to admit, i’m loving the current heavyweight division, particularly our British fighters. H & T Fury with Gorman provide a lot of variety with their boxing skills. You have the big warrior type sluggers like Whyte & Chisora. Dubois looks a decent prospect. Joyce with his high punch output and great engine...and then you have Joshua whom is currently head and shoulders above them all.

I love @Jurgen but i’m going against him here. It’s a fascinating time for British heavyweight boxing.

The UK HW division is full of talented HWs

Consider there are only 44 listed HW fighters in the UK but in that list you have -
T Fury (undefeated former lineal champ)
A Joshua (undefeated WBA WBO IBF champ)
    D Whyte
    D Chisora
    H Fury
    T Bellew

    On the way up is
    D Dubois
    J Joyce

Just recently still had D Haye

    1217 in world
    427 in Europe
    329 in the USA

Its arguable that even with so few HWs in the UK that the top 3 could be from the UK in Fury, Joshua and Whyte

I think some world rated HWs are fortunate to not be based in the UK as if they were boxing out of the UK they may be something like the #7 in the UK due to how tough it is in the UK HW division and not get recognised, but can be world rated if fighting out of another country and not having to go through such tough fights to be recognised

More HW talent in UK than US for sure, but I’m really not sure how talented they actually are. As chisora lost a clear UD to a 42yo part time boxer Vitali, that is def an indication he’s not that talented.
Joshua went life and death with 41yo shot Wlad and is a very poor boxer in general.
Tyson Fury maybe is talented, but all he ever did is win UD over shot Wlad in ugly fight no one deserved to win.
I really don’t see much talent in Hughie Fury and bellew .
Joyce is prob better than most people including some brits think he is.

Did you just name Bellew and Hughie as talented HWs lol. The UK does have the HW scene on lock compared any other country but Ortiz and Wilder beats all the HW there except maybe AJ who would be able to compete and possibly beat them.

It's a strong pool but let's be honest, the only genuinely talented ones are the Furies and Gorman.

Joshua is elite because of his physical strengths. Whyte is not that good as a boxer but is a solid fighter and clearly has a great left hook. Chisora is just durable and has the ability to absorb punishment. Joyce, Dubois can hardly be described as having boxing talent, again just amazing physical strengths.

Gorman, Hughie and Tyson are the only genuinely talented boxers.

Hughie fought to a debatable decision with a world champ and showed skills that look like he could go further.
Bellew although I dont think he will be a major HW factor (partly because I dont think he wants to be), does have 2 wins over Haye. Yes I know Haye was injured but the 2nd win Bellew did look more impressive.
Beating Haye is a bigger win than any Ortiz or Wilder hold imo.

Im not convinced Ortiz beats Hughie and would favour Tyson, Joshua, Whyte over Ortiz.
I would favour Tyson and Joshua over Wilder

I think Povetkin could cause problems to Joshua and Wilder with his style
