Yeah but can't you see the predicament here. If Parker and Whyte only justify being on a normal Sky Sports event but won't accept the pay cheques that come with normal Sky Sports event, then what should the answer be?

For me it should be tough luck! You aren't big enough for pay per view, so you don't get paid the pay per view money. If that just means you want to fight garbage opponents and go nowhere, then your choice.

I enjoyed it, a couple of good proper kos not tkos. I was made up for Allen and thought Whyte was very good to get on top and bully Parker after an easy first round for Parker. Just because there’s good fights on though doesn’t mean you should be paying for it, especially when you pay for Sky anyway. People have got so use to the crap Sky put on that when they see a decent night they make out it’s amazing and well worth PPV money.

Other than the terrible next gen garbage what free domestic boxing shows has there been on Sky lately. I could be wrong but there seems to be a hell of a lot less than a couple of years ago. Eddie seems to have lowered the quality of free boxing on Sky so that fans are happy to pay the PPV ones.

Whyte and Parker were probably demanding 7 figures. Only way to get/gurantee 7 figures is through PPV

We'll find out very soon if Hearn made the right decision once the PPV Numbers are released. 300K is a Benchmark and would prove it was a success

Exactly mate! When ever i come on here or read tweets from Eddie Hearn's fanboys. It's all "UK is the home of boxing", "Wilder has to come here", "yanks have to pay $100 for ppv"...i laugh

The fact is compare Showtime/HBO Regular Saturday Night Cards with Sky's. American cards sh*t all over Matchrooms. They only allow world title fights as main events. Sky and Eddie Hearn put on garbage like Okolie-Chamberlin as main events.

I found a formula if Eddie Hearns PPV are worth paying for. If they are Screened in the US on Showtime or HBO it usually means the fights are meaningful. Guess what, Whyte-Parker was not even televised even in the US because Eddie Hearn couldn't find a network willing to show it...

Or you make the fight as there are enough people who want to pay to watch it. You can’t fight the market demand.

The fighters want a certain purse to get in the ring. The promoter then has to do the numbers to see if it’s viable. A sold out o2 and no doubt a good Ppv buyrate means the fighters got what they deserved. If there is an audience which makes the numbers work then the promoter should make the fight. The promoter shouldn’t not make it because a small minority are not happy that it’s ppv.

The fighters and promoters don’t do this for free. If the money wasn’t there the fight wouldn’t of been on Ppv.

Tbf...I m happy to see guys like chisora/whyte/Allen/takam/parker getting half decent paydays. They all pretty much put it on the line last night. Put on a great show. You can come up with ten reasons why it shouldn,t be ppv. But at the end of the day these guys are taking punches that will damage you in the long term for our entertainment really. We can't really complain about hearn underpaying Allen then demand whyte/parker and takam/chisora fight on normal sky sports for relatively small money without being slightly hypocritical. They earned their money last night. Glad to see it not being just the same guys getting the big money every time. Brook on beating up a nobody. Or Joshua on taking out Molina. Evenly matched fights.

There is problems with it being ppv...but on the whole...they deserved your twenty quid last night.

One of the most entertaining promotions I've ever seen.

The ending to Whyte v Parker was like watching a Rocky film (it was doubtful he would even get up let alone survive the remainder of the round) while Chisora found a way to win when there didn't appear to be one.

    Astonishing stuff.

The point is that there wasn't a market demand! How many people who paid for the PPV were calling for this fight before it was announced and saying I'd love to pay £20 for that?

It's what I'd describe as a manufactured PPV. No demand for it, no reason for it, no PPV star quality on show, not even a world title on the line, but instead an 'event' that if Hearn throws enough of his stable at and hypes correctly, then he can make a profit and pay the headline fighters a lot more than their market rate. It's not what it should be about for me mate.

AJ vs Wilder you have masses of people calling for, and I'm sure I don't need to spell out all the reasons why. There's a huge market demand, and if it gets made and we get Wilder over to the UK, then I think it's understandable why it will be PPV.

Sorry to be negative because I did enjoy the card. I just don't like the way these manufactured PPVs are going. There seem to be worse precedents being set all the time.

People do not just buy stuff for the sake of it. One could argue that Whyte after Browne put himself into a position where he could headline a PPV show.

If people didnt want this fight then it wouldn't of sold out the O2 (An arena which isnt easy to sell out) and wouldnt do well on PPV.

What I will say is Matchroom and Sky have built momentum in the sense that people now expect they will get a good night's show so there is no need for the hard sell. They can probably bank on 250k buys minimum for a start.

Now lets not forget this hasn't happened over night. Sky Box office was on the floor after Haye v Wlad.

Hearn as a promoter has to find PPV stars outside AJ. He and Sky cant just rely on AJ and have to make sure there are other fighters who can do good numbers. If he didnt do this he wouldn't be doing his job.
