Lee McCallister where does he go from here, back pro again or more of the same white collar type fights against ageing legends ?
Who is Lee paying off in the BBC to call him a lightweight world champion, light-welterweight world champion and now the 'only boxer to be lightweight world champion and heavyweight world champion"? Liked Lee back in the day and his Murray fight was a cracker, but let's be honest; the WBU belt is no world championship.
Looks like Lee’s been on the roids judging by his watery looking bloated physique. Embarassment that people even report on this as a world title.
Ricky Hatton had thousands believing it was if rickys is a world title so is lees 15 proud defences of that strap he valued that higher than the british
Was thinking the same thing...bbc reporting that he is a heavyweight champion..wasnt this a white collar event? Wtf is the WBU belt im confused as hell lol
Its BIBA. Basically it's an "alternative " to the British Boxing Board of Control that recognises any old title (WBF, WBU etc), isn't affiliated or recognised by any major organisations (except maybe IBF) and none of it's fights are shown on boxrec. It's like if someone fails a medical they are probably able to pick up a license with BIBA. The WBU probably sanctions title fights to anyone and means nothing. To be fair to Hatton it was clear that Warren was trying to push the WBU as the new WBO, when it didn't take off he ditched it and guys like Lee picked it up before the British Board stopped recognising anything outside the big 4 and the IBO. It also isnt even the same WBU that Lee held 10+ years ago either, it just shares the initials.
Nice Potwash, classy geezer isn't he.I'd agree with your old man, Danny was one to watch, just to hot and cold through his career, needed rematch's against opponents at times when he was so much better than them that he should've dominated easy first time, all mental with him...Very sad hearing he's fighting McCallister, a real WTF kinda fight to make..Surely his kids have been on bended knee's by now begging him to stop, has to be worrying for them and the rest of his family !
Sad thing is, Hatton could have picked up a big 4 title during that time. Harris was beatable and we missed out on an absolute war against Gatti. The Tszyu fight could have been a unification. Almost 4 years at that level- some of the level of fights weren't terrible, but yeah never should have been a 'world title' fight. Always a bit salty about Light-welter at those times. Some great fights to be made that never happened or happened later.
Agree with everything you say mate. Was watching some of his early fights again and he was a beast...fast, sharp as hell with nice power, but like you said he blew hot and cold. I could always tell when he was in a bad way just by his ring walk...but the man is a legend to me. Lets hope he hangs up his gloves for real this time. He loves boxing and will always be a fighting man so i hope he goes into training or something of the kind. Respect @Birmingham.
Perhaps you know more than me Pot, what is it that keeps him fighting?? Some say its the money, that the kids education costs etc, then you hear he is ok off, enough to not fight with no mortgages on properties.... Which is it, the love of boxing ??? If its the love, then surely his family comes way before??
He isnt rich but he definitely not short of a few quid. He did invest some money and that, brought property etc...its the love of boxing. He is a fighting man through and through. Me and my old man always used to see him training like a beast before his fights...the man used to run whilst pushing cars along in Brixton lol! He is a family man too and im sure he loves them...but im also sure he loves boxing just as much...he was fighting long before his wife and kids come so i can see where he is coming from. He has said this before. He needs to have a break and talk to his loved ones. He doesn't have to leave the sport i just hope he hangs up his gloves. He is well respected so surely he can do the training side.
This is what I mean mate. I get he loves Boxing, its his life, but surely there's been tears and begging him to stop behind closed doors. Its well past the point of staying too long isn't it !
