In order for boxing to get decent figures on TV it needs to appeal to more than just the hardcore fans.

The only fighter Warren has who will pull in anything that would be considered any better than an average rating is Tyson.

Another blow to Warren which I don't remember being discussed here was them losing the rights to the Saturday evening Premier League matches. When Warren signed with BT he mentioned a number of times how his shows would inherit a large audience from these matches.

A little more info. What will make or break it for me is if the fights are only streamed live or live and on demand. If you can watch them the following morning I'll be interested, if not I'll continue with torrents.

The TV rights with BT Sport will conclude at the end of 2018 and according to sources close to Jim Edwards of MMANytt.com, the rights will then move over to Eleven Sports.

The full details of the deal are vague at this time, but it’s believed that some of the events that will broadcast on the network will be made available to other channels on a licensing deal e.g. via Sky Sports Box Office or BT Sport Box Office.

Why would they drop football, isn't that the number 1 sport over there?

    it's not that huge.

It has a very limited - though very loyal admittedly - fan base and makes very little revenue for them.

    Boxing will be fine.

You can stick on the best UFC card ever and you'd still have a fraction of the audience a decent World title fight involving a British fighter.

That is a good point. PL football is a great lead in to boxing.

    Hype.

At one point some were saying that UFC would be the second national sport after football but it hasn't proved to be half as successful as its disciples were saying it was going to be.

they overpaid for champions league rights and it hasn't brought in the subscriptions that BT thought it would. I cant see BT spending that big again.

I don’t think there’s anything to see here until the first BT Box Office show or two. If they perform badly then probably can expect a cut.

They fell into a massive trap but won't make the same mistake again.

Although there's a lot of people out there who want to talk about every league possible as if they're experts, the amount of people who do actually watch a whole array of leagues are few and far between. The Champions League is no different. Hipsters may try to impress you with details about Slavia Prague vs FC Copenhagen but all they do is watch a YouTube video showing goals and key moments and not the full match. Man Utd vs Barcelona or AC Milan vs Real Madrid? Definitely, they always will attract large TV audiences but BT bought the rights to ALL matches and for 80% of them it would have been cheaper to fly fans who watch it to the match.

I wouldn't say Sky are in the best of shapes aswell. Lowest amount of Sky customers in a decade, due to cancellations moving to Skinny bundles such as Now TV, Netflix. The saving grace for Sky is the Preimer League and that HBO Contract.

BT as long as they keep a chunk of the Preimer League and Champions League they should be fine in regards to people still subscribing to BT Broadband for BT Sport

Lot's of peple still/did critcise Sky for walking away from losing the Champions League Rights back in 2013. But it has been proven to be a good move. Damaged BT, Sky has kept growing, More spending on Original Programming and a Giant US Corporation taking over

BT just came in to late, if they done the sports raid a decade before where pay-tv subscriptions was seen as the norm, they would have benefited much more. They have come in to a era, where pay tv is declining and OTT is the future.

No need for that. Good, honest, competitive games most of the time up here. I'll take watching Scottish Football any day over the over-hyped tourist attraction that is the EPL.
