How Many Of The 15 Below Does GGG Beat?

I think over half.

I'd have my doubts with Jones Jr, Monzon, Hagler, Robinson, Greb and maybe LaMotta.

Not to say the others could not beat him, but I feel fairly confident Golovkin would win.

Then again, styles make fights and some of these guys had pretty unique styles. Freddie Steele looks to me at his best to be a very heavy handed, fast and accurate puncher. Hopkins is a spoiler par excellance and might be able to break Golovkin's rythmn.

On the other hand GGG's technical excellence and jab might prove more effective than expected.

I'd give my left nut to see a series of fights between Golovkin and these guys.

Difficult to assess, given that Golovkin didn't meet anyone of these guys' level in his prime (or hasn't, even since his prime).

I couldn't be confident he'd be likely of victory against any of them. However, I'd be extremely confident in backing the following to beat Golovkin:

Greb
Monzon
Hagler
Robinson
Tiger
Ketchel
Steele
Walker
Hopkins
Jones Jnr
LaMotta

It would be Toney's fight to lose. But, at middleweight he was probably at his most formidable.
Zale's prime is a mystery, due to the war years. However, my sense is he'd be able to handle Golovkin.
Prime Giardello would probably prove to be too tough a nut to crack, but there's a chance here for Golovkin.

Valdez is probably Golovkin's best chance of a scalp, from this list of monsters.

 

There was a GGG / Tiger thread a while ago. It seems very obvious to me that Golovkin's jab would cause Tiger no end of problems.

 

I don't think Canelo does anything better than Toney and Toney just has Soo much better stamina and could(when he felt like it) throw so many more punches than Golovkin, which was why Canelo couldn't beat him(he didn't have the gas tank to throw enough)
So I struggle to see how GGG beats toney

 

No Langford, Fitzsimmons, Fullmer, Emile Griffith, McCallum, Charley Burley?

I think GGG beats Ketchel for sure, maybe Zale, maybe Walker but that's it.

Sticking to the ones we have decent film of i'd only back him over Valdez. Zale would be interesting.

I'm not sure it would be a huge factor. Tiger always appeared to me to be a patient fighter, tending to sit outside of range and look for openings, before more or less pouncing on his opponents.

Finding openings against Golovkin isn't difficult.

 

No way. There you go underrating one of the best middleweight forces of boxing history. If it weren't for Monzon, you'd all be speaking of Rocky Valdez in the same hushed, respectful tones reserved for ring royalty.

 

Both Tiger and Giardello beat GGG.

 

Valdez was a long way below Monzon. Valdez was great against guys that stood in front of him or came to him but against others not so much. He didn't have anywhere near the versatility of Monzon. It's speculation how he would have went if Monzon never existed.
