Inspired by a comment from @The Morlocks on another thread, what stretch of 30 consecutive days is the best in boxing history. To clarify, doesn’t have to be an encompassing calendar month (like from Jan. 1-Jan. 30) ... it can be from the 11th of one month to the 10th of the next. I’d have to do a lot of research, but my gut tells me it would have to be in the 1970s or ‘80s when there were often multiple TV fights on Saturday and then more on Sunday on American nextowrk TV. For me, I’d say the criteria would have to include at least one superfight (which could be PPV, HBO/Showtime or maybe a primetime network card — those were the best) as well as several other good to great fights over the course of the 30 days. So please give me your best 30.
I think autumn of 82 was as good a run as we’ll ever see in boxing. I had to check my dates cause this is before I was even born...but from the middle of November 1982 until mid December the boxing world was fortunate enough to watch these four all time classics go down... Aaron Pryor-Alexis Arguello, Nov 12 Ray Mancini-Duk Koo Kim, Nov 13 Bobby Chacon-Bazooka Limon IV, Dec 2 Wilfredo Gomez-Lupe Pintor, Dec 11
How about August of 1900, when the old guard of the heavyweight division, put the new generation of contenders to the sword? 10 August Bob Fitzsimmons beats Gus Ruhlin 24 August Bob Fitzsimmons beats Tom Sharkey 30 August Jim Corbett beats Kid McCoy In just 20 days the two previous champions, beat the three best contenders who were rough contemporaries with Jeffries, and put themselves on a collision course with the champion again!
Don't know the dates n I can't clearly remember but in the mid 90s they had a huge card in england with Collins v benn headline, prince naseem undercard and then later the day holyfield v Tyson in US. That's a pretty good day. Don't know what else happened that month but anything would be a bonus.
