Peaks matter. Physical attributes enhance skills. That's why more skillful boxers can lose to other fighters who simply outclass them physically. It's why older fighters lose to fighters who are less skilled than them. So primes and peaks certainly matter. Hopkins is not the same fighter he was in 1998. You can't possibly believe that.

Well he has beaten Taylor twice. That is it.

In my opinion, Pavlik is about 1 percent better than Taylor.

    Both fights were very even!!!

Nicely put:good However the limey Joefanboys on here are excellent pretenders and would prefer to ignore the fact that Kelly Pavlik has done in one year what it took Joe 11 to do and thats fight 3 good fighters:deal They won't debate this as it's the truth, instead they'll make silly, gay and witty comments that have nothing to do with the facts:patsch

    Man I forgot. Stupid me.:patsch
And he looked so fast in that fight. Did you all notice that.

Calzaghe began to **** in his pants, IMMEDIATELY AFTER THAT FIGHT.

I will always remember that fight. It is now a historic fight. It was after all,the very fight that established Pavlik as an ATG p4p fighter.

    AT LEAST FOR SOME PEOPLE.

Perhaps you could give us your arguments in a reasoned fashion for why Gary Lockett is a better fighter than the likes of Eubank at the time Calzaghe fought him, Sheika, Reid, Woodhall, Brewer, Mitchell?

Of course you can't because he isn't better than Manfredo. Is he better than Pudwill? But Pudwill was only a late replacement. I'm not sure he's better than Mark Delaney, who Calzaghe won the British title against in his 17th fight.

    Stop being so silly now.

read over your posts more carefully
    Pudwill:lol: Delaney:lol: Woodhall:lol: Brewer:lol:
Mitchell, and Reid are decent names however far from their prime when they fought Joe
Eubank(on his way down), Lacy, and Kessler thats it.....IN 11 YEARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So please stop making me laugh:lol:

Somehow these wins give Joe an aura of invinciblity? Mystifying I know:lol:

right then.who else could he have fought?
both jones and toney had already moved up in weight when calzaghe beat eubank, calzaghe just wasn't on their radar. it's well known that hopkins priced himself out of a calzaghe fight 3 or 4 years ago.calzaghe has fought every super middle who was anything in that time.the only one he didn't was ottke who wanted no part of him.well once again in the last 11 years name another top super middle he could have fought?

Don't need to claim they give anyone invincibility, we are dealing with your claim that Lockett is better than any of them.

Stop posting your silly smilies and back up your words with actual logic.

I was kind of presuming that Lacy, Kessler and Hopkins were the three exceptions you were referencing, but see from your reply that it's actually Eubank, Lacy and Kessler. So you also apparantly believe Lockett better than the current Bernard Hopkins?

How about you have a go at actual logical argument. As a suggestion maybe you could try to avoid any silly smilies in your reply and post in the following format:

I'll let you do the rest, give it a go.

Ok now youre wandering....I never said Lockett was better than any of the fighters listed...I merely pointed out what everyone knows already, that Joe Calzaghe in 11 years fought a few good names and the rest were "Locketts" or cabdrivers whichever you prefer......in my opinion its not entirely Joe's fault as you've mentioned there werent that many fights out there, however there was more than your willing to concede...I blame Frank Warren.....soon you'll know what I'm talking about when Khan takes his giant step up and gets killed......It happens all the time with Warrens fighters......

    That's exactly what you said.

You said that Calzaghe had taken 11 years to fight three good fighters (who you later named as Eubank, Lacy and Kessler) whereas Pavlik had done the same in one year (Miranda, Taylor, Lockett).

If Lockett is a 'good fighter' and none of the others on Calzaghe's resume apart from the named three reach that standard, then that is clearly saying he is better than them.

It's a patently ridiculous statement, however, so no suprise to see you backing away from it at haste. Shines a light of hilarity on your 'they won't debate that as it's the truth' comment however when, as soon as someone tries to debate it you run screaming like a girl.

umm Cobbler I wasn't talking about Lockett as being a "good fighter"
I run screaming like a girl? Interesting as you prove my previous statements correct by putting words in my mouth and continuing this childish banter...If you've read my previous posts you'll know full well that I don't dislike Joe..I just hate how he's been overprotected by a poor moneygrubbing promoter...Now theres a true champ from the UK he goes by the name of David Haye...thats a fighter with the right idea:deal
