Was the commentary in tonight's Fury fight an all time low ?

Not sure what others think but that was some terrible commentary. Really terrible. There seemed to be a blanket ban on criticising Fury and totally bigging up anything he did that was semi-decent.

Look i'd love to see Fury back to his best and ready to school Wilder. But that was a shadow of the real Fury. But you wouldn't know it listening to the commentators who are clearly following BT/Fwank orders to big Fury up at every opportunity.

Cringeworthy doesn't even begin to describe it. i'd rather listen to Max Kellerman it was that bad.

I kind of cringed when John Rawling said Wilder was a southpaw and Haye had to put him straight in a nice way lol.

My favorite bit was when Pineta was landing some clean punches after making Fury look sloppy and David Haye came out with this gem to distract from the ****

''What I like is that Fury is making all the right facial expressions''

It's not really an all time low, this is pretty much normal commentary for British TV.

It's nothing but pure ass lickery, undeserved hype, giving zero credit for the away guy (except when the guy is utterly outmatched and being dominated, then you gotta make him seem like a killer) etc etc etc..

I think the idea is that fans are so drunk they won't notice the BS that's being fed to them.

Or when Barry Jones said "This is Panieta's world title fight" erm he already fought Wlad for the title. just awful.

Yes. Makes me yearn for those halcyon days of McGuigan, Watt and McCrory. It wasn't always like this, they offered a balance when there was a blatant mismatch or sales pitch, particularly McGuigan.

Warren basically had a monopoly on British boxing through the noughties, so the commentators could afford to offer a semblance of balance as they knew you'd be back the next week regardless. With the emergence of Matchroom, there is effectively a war on for PPV payers and essentially an increase in sales pitches.

Every show I watch lately that has a Brit boxer (speaking as a Brit) has me cringing that it can't possibly be topped for sycophantic sales-puff, but then the next one comes along 6 weeks later and tops it.

The sales figures available to Warren and Hearn obviously show a correlation between PPV buys and ridiculously fawning commentary so unfortunately it looks like it's here to stay.:pipi

Once again pandering to the coke taking football casuals who are unable or unwilling to consult boxrec or watch a few past fights.

Haye often used false bravado to his advantage and understands the importance of a phoney expression .

Haye was terrible and one of the commentators thought Wilder is a southpaw as far as i remember.

I always though Jim Watt was horrendous as a commentator but he was levels above the team tonight.
