Let's put this in perspective. When Wlad fought Pianeta 5 years ago he was undefeated and people were calling it a soft defence and a fraud of a fight. If we well recall, Pianeta barely landed a punch of consequence and got demolished. Fast forward 5 years and we have the Pianeta of today: 5 losses on his record including 3 hard KO losses. His wins have been against total filler (eg Daso simuenovic 1-0, LOL) and his last fight was a loss to an 11-0 newb. Fat Pianeta looked like he'd just come in from a plumbing gig, ffs he even had a plumber's crack peeping out of his trunks. Not only did this garbage version of Pianeta go the distance, but he managed to land plenty of shots on Fury and even cornered him a couple of times. That's the level Fury is on. Fury himself still looks fat and soft. He looks about the same to me as when he lifted his shirt at the Wlad presser. Yes, he looked better than against Seferi (could he look worse, though?) and he had some decent foot movement and upper body movement. But - this is a big BUT - shot to bits Pianeta still landed on him and Fury had absolutely nothing in the tank to deter him. His punches (which were never hard to begin with) may as well have been featherdusters for all the impact they had. He can't bust a grape at this point. To sum up: Wilder is going to murder this fat, weak and flabby version of Fury. Wilder's entourage probaby had to wipe the dribble off his chin when he watched the fight, as he drooling at the exhibition of utter bummery. Wilder's lack of defence means nothing if the other guy can't punch. His crap footwork means nothing if the other guy is all flash and no substance. But Wilder's smashing power is going to mean everything if the other guy is easy to land on. Wilder by KO in the first 3 rounds.
The fact is its too early for him to take on wilder, you cant base anything on his comeback so far, these guys offered no threat at all. we need to see how he does when he steps up competition, but if he goes the Wilder route this soon it just suggests he is cashing out and not taking the comeback seriously in my eyes. the speed and power of Wilder will likely poleaxe him at this point, it could be a joke to watch. from the state Fury he was in, taking on a champion this soon would be a farce. I wouldn't want to see it, I'd rather Tyson at least got in the best form he could.
Pianeta hardly landed any punches, and most of the few punches that he did land, Fury rolled with and took the steam out of. It was an easy, easy fight. Fury of 2011-2013 was getting hit and knocked down by Pajkic and Cunningham. His defense last night was fine. Everyone gets hit a few. Wilder probably beats him if they fight in November. But let's not pretend Fury was getting tagged loads by Pianeta.
Pianeta should have struggled to land anything on a Fury that was properly in shape. The fact that such a woeful version of Pianeta managed to put up a fight doesn't bode well for Fury. I'll be cheering for him vs Wilder, but make no mistake, he's going to get napped.
I am pretty disappointed in Fury tbh. Personally I thought he was taking his comeback seriously but it seems he was just angling for a quick cash out of his lineal title.. Shame because if he could get back to his best I could see him ud'ing Wilder quite easily but he is no where near at that level..
I don't see him stopping Wilder, but he beats him convincingly The one trick pony will be exposed. I can't wait!
Although I don't like TF for what he did after he beat WK, I do respect the effort he is making now. Just hope it's a knockdown, dragout fight. That would help greatly in the build up to the AJ fight. Let's be honest, that's what this is all about anyway.
