If I was Hearn I wouldn't either. Gone are the days when UK fighters had to go cap in hand to the states to make decent money. When Wilder beats Fury Hearn needs to make a FAIR offer to Wilder for a fight at Wembley, but not to budge on venue.
disagree... back then things like sky tv were not in most households.... I couldnt tell you the last time I seen a house with just council tele. People spend FAR FAR more now than they used to. TV, cars, shopping, clothes, food everything online purchasing. We as planet are at an a all time high point for spending. think about the average person now pays for mobile contract, tv licence, tv subscriptions, internet etc.... the problem is that we consider this as such a normal part of life we no longer see them as "luxuries" any more and dont realise that they take up part of our "disposable income".
This is so inaccurate. I've seen people say some of these fights weren't even PPV. There's a few on there that I'm pretty sure myself weren't PPV. Froch Groves 2 done way more than 350k! Only 50k more than Quigg Frampton? Do me a favour! Also not a chance that AJ Parker got that close to Wlad. No way. None of my casual mates bought it, but they all bought Wlad.
The article sources BARB figures, which are not official in any way for Box Office. It also said that it was based on "various media reports and sources", which sometimes contradict the BARB figures anyway. BARB figures have to be treated with caution on small audience measurements. There are 5,100 homes on the BARB panel, so there is going to be some major statistical noise on Box Office figures, as it's a relatively small number of households on the BARB panel. BARB figures are (impressively) accurate on large viewing figures, and they can be relied on to identify the difference between a PPV Home Run like Joshua-Klitscho and a Brook-Spence type event. However, if the figures are being relied on to say that (eg) Whyte-Parker did more buys than Joshua-Molina, the sample just isn't big enough to show that with any degree of accuracy.
100% was not on PPV, he’s talking ****. Also where are the rest of the Naseem PPVs like Hardy, Soto and McCullough etc
775k for Haye-Bellew II is the total estimated Sky Box Office viewing figures for that week. As there was a WWE PPV the day after, it's definitely not accurate, and you could probably knock 100-150k off it. There was also a WWE event the day after Haye-Bellew I.
Khan Maidana deffo wasn’t Ppv , Khan Prescott , Khan Salita was even Ppv , Froch Taylor was on prime time and a friend In the know said it did less than 1000 buys , Froch fight before that was free on itv4 , he was deffo not box office before the groves 1 fight , can’t remember the Ward fight being ppv might be wrong though , setanta also did a few big events Haye Mac etc , the Jennings fight that was listed as a main event I’m sure was brook Jennings and was a super six with cleverly DeGale billy joe and the Olympians from that time ,Hatton mallignagi , collazo , Castillo, maussa etc were all ppv
Yeah i found it hard to believe Froch - Groves only did 50k more than Quigg and Frampton. Most guys I know watched that fight whilst the same guys never heard of either Frampton and Quigg. The Whyte- Parker being close to T.Fury and Wlad I can believe as T.Fury previously hasnt had a big following and no one gave him a chance against Wlad. T.Fury even struggles to sell out tickets at the MEN arena for the rematch.
Froch/Groves 2 was widely reported at the time to have done over 700k, which sounds about right. Same experience here, all my casual's mates bought it. It was huge.
Yes, definitely did more. The weekly viewing figures for BARB show only 47,000 for Sky Box Office Events. However, the same week saw a spike of around 150,000 in that week's figures for Sky Box Office Movies (and a corresponding drop-off the week after). You can probably add that 150,000 to Froch-Groves and attribute it to issues with how the viewing figures were recorded, with the overarching caveat that none of these figures are that accurate anyway.
Likely to be accurate. Box Office Movies viewing figures for that week were over half a million when they are usually less than 200k. That probably accounts for the missing few hundred thousand.
Sorry to say this, but the thread starter has started an interesting subject but only provided some terribly inaccurate and incomplete information. Posting stuff like this just feeds false information onto the internet which can be accessed by anyone.
