How someone can be a boxing fan and not be a fan of Mikey is beyond me. He kept it straight 100 in that interview. He is that rare rare breed of fighter who in this day and age wants to fight the fights that matter when they matter. If he were to make the Spence fight and win he problably becomes the hottest ticket in boxing and possibly becomes a star off that fight.

Mikey has a PROVEN HISTORY of calling guys out and then not fighting them. I'm happy to be wrong here, but the Spence fight is yet another smoke show by Mikey.

How can you call him ‘straight’? He talks more trash about fighters he has no intention of fighting than anyone else in the game. He’s fought no one and he’s a diva. How anyone can be a fan of boxing and a fan of him is beyond me.

It's a perfectly legitimate gripe to have with a professional boxer. He hasn't fought ANYONE he's called out even when given the opportunity (Linares and Cotto are 2 examples).

Stop calling people out if you have no intentions of fighting them. It's just self-promotion. It's like an MLB pitcher promising to mow down opposing hitters w/ high heat and then throwing 90% offspeed pitches. Don't lie. Be honest.

What will you say if he doesn't fight Spence?

 

It's the idea of him facing certain fighters that gets fans excited. It's the reality of him facing fighters other than who he keeps calling out, that brings disappointment.

I like Mikey. But even I tire of him and his 'wish list' of opponents.

 

I like Mikey, but I don't see the point in bringing up PAC's name. PAC will be 40 this year and is completely shot. Also, knowing Mikey he would force PAC to go down to 140 instead of facing him at 147.

When Mikey moves up to 147 and backs up his talk I'll start to care, but as of now his act is getting stale.

 

for a child, maybe. mikey has taken charge of his boxing future, he has to promote himself by calling out fighters he is willing to face FOR THE RIGHT PURSE. since leaving arum, his purses have progressively gotten larger and are at a point where his track record demands a certain amount. his call outs arent personal, he isnt trying to be a tough guy, its all business and mikey knows how much money is in play. he may take less than what he feels he deserves if he feels its an important legacy fight, who knows?
if the spence fight doesnt get made, for whatever reason, im sure mikey will be up front about it. im also sure mikey will be fighting big fights against the best in at least 2 divisions in the near future.

He called out Cotto. Golden Boy said yes. Then he said no to Cotto. Then he said no to Linares (one fight deal). Instead, he fought Broner and Lipinents, much lesser scalps than Cotto and Linares. And probably less money than Linares and definitely less money than Cotto.

Mikey has zero intention of fighting Spence. He's using Spence's name to self promote. He will price himself out and then say that he tried to make the fight and morons like yourself will believe him. The only reason you're giving him credit is because he's not vulgar and rude about his call outs, but they're no more sincere than when the loudmouths do it.

Better hope he doesn't accept Team Pac's challenge because then I fully expect you to turn on him since he's "not that interested" in the fight.
