You have to have the BBC though to watch anything on tv. I was never going to miss the World Cup was i ? That is more of a country problem, hopefully with the rise of Netflix, Amazon Prime, BBC's TV License numbers keeps dropping
That is exactly why Yanks will start to hate him too. From their perspective, why do you keep telling them to pay $10 a month for British Level Fights and Fighters and for fighters like Gavin Mcaddonel, Anthony Crolla or Katie f'ing Taylor
2 Main Reasons: 1. Fleecing existing Sky Sports Subscribers PPV for shyte fights. (Known as PPV Mugs) 2. Sticking on one sided pony cards nearly 95% of the time on Sky Sports. Apart from that he appears a decent bloke.
Teasing a old man for a childish reason (shelly winkle) ? Especially given he's got history for being a bully in his younger days. Eddie Hearn reminds me of a certain type. It would be very Intresting to see how he talks about fans/fighters behind closed doors. Just him and Barry Hearn
The only reason Eddie gets so much hate is because people are jealous of success and would rather see someone fail. Eddie has revolutionized boxing in the UK and we are now lucky enough to see the best boxers in the world like Klitchko, GGG and Spence. People go on about PPV and Stubhub etc but his job is to generate as much money as possible and that's exactly what he is doing. Anyone else would do exactly the same thing if they had the opportunity. Also the hatred is clouding over everyone's thoughts about AJ/Wilder. It is obvious that Wilder is the one putting up brick walls to stop the fight happening but people would rather blame Eddie. I think we should start appreciating him a bit more and enjoy the amazing era he has brought back to UK boxing.
This thread is full of people giving legit reasons as to why they don't like him. Please can we drop this jealousy narrative that is totally baseless and without any merit. 'Amazing era' - come on man, really?
I do agree. As a nation we love to see people nearly get to the top and then fail "Good try old chap" We don't seem to know what to do with people who make it all the way, except brand them as "arrogant" and "too big for his boots"
I dont know how long you have been a boxing fan but this era is WAY better than anything we have had in the last 10 years. God I remember a time When an Audley Harrison fight was the most anticipated thing that season.
I said amazing because in the past the only place boxers wanted to fight was America. Now they want to come to the UK because the fans and atmosphere are the best in the world and that is giving us the chance to see the best boxers. Eddie is a big reason for this change so hats off to him and its us (the UK fans) which are benefiting from it.
Who are all these fighters wanting to come to the UK,? Last i checked it was Hearn wanting to go to America! No doubt Hearn has got more people interested in Matchroom and credit to him but he has created a huge divide also with this cult like following. Still don't like the link up with Stubhub and i never will
In the last few years we have had GGG, Spence and Klitchko over here and in the next few months we potentially might have Usyk and Pacquiao coming as well. In the past we never use to get any of these big names. Also, you can't blame Hearn for trying to cut it in the US. As a successful company you always want to try and expand and make more money and I see this as a positive for UK fighters rather than a negative as they can get more recognition worldwide rather than just in UK which again potentially might bring bigger fights to the UK. As for stubhub, can anyone say they would not do the same thing if you owned Matchroom. If a company offered you a ton of money to be the main ticket seller then you would be stupid not to take it. It's just business!
I have no hate for Eddie whatsoever, in fact as a person he comes across as being likable and charming and he's done an excellent of making AJ a genuine mainstream star. BUT I do hate what he's done with PPV's, £20 for what are generally one fight cards is a rip off, I already subscribe to Sky Sports so why should I pay even more on top of that ?? And if it wasn't for Eddie then there's no way BT and Frank would be launching the BT PPV channels.
