I really like Egg, felt bad when it happened, but if you're gonna fight that stupid all the time then things like this are gonna happen. I'd like to know what's next for Hassan Mwakinyo? Does he get Kell Brook
Thing is with eggington is that he doesn't give much away with his facial features and I'm talking body language here, he has the same look on his face, no matter What S happening. Because of this it was hard to discern what was really going on, Sat night. Was it ego?, was it incompetence ?, was he near enough out on his feet? These 3 scenarios are prime candidates but which one it was I and seemingly others can't state as fact. Out of them 3, I most likely lean towards, out on his feet. I think his brain was scrambled in that period of time and he ended up not been in a position (mentally) to defend himself
The ref should have stopped it a bit earlier imho. There were about 7 flush shots to his head in the barrage before it was stopped. Massive setback for egg. He's got skills but seems unable to deal with come forward strong fighters.
The ref knew the Rios fight was at stake. I think it should have been stopped earlier but given what was at stake for Sam I can understand why he let it go a bit longer.
Couldn't of said it any better.. He had the swagger of someone that was cool and take my time, this aint nothing kinda attitude...Way way too casual..I don't think he should retire, I think that's peoples anger with him and I understand that. If I was his trainer I think as soon as we hit the dressing room i'd of gave him a dig, a judas even, i'd be hopping with anger..He has some fantastic attributes but some god awful ones too..I like the bag head looking **** though
Thing is he takes them in every fight, he took flush combo's off Gavin and Malignaggi, like 3/4 hooks in a row for fun, I know they are light punchers but its his mentality, its like hes showing off his chin in every fight to the public, he can avoid a lot of what he catches imo
Eggington looked terrible Saturday, I mean really terrible and he didn't look too clever in the Mimoune fight last year either. Personally I've never been sold on him but, Does it amaze anybody else Eggington has won.. BBBofC Midlands Area Title BBBofC British Title Commonwealth Title EBU European Title Also a few other titles, WBC International Silver Title, WBC International Title, IBO Continental Title. All he hasn't had his hand on is a World Title, watching him over the weekend I find that absolutely amazing.
The one time I decide to not bother with a card we get a huge upset and a good domestic dust up, as well as Khan being floored. ****ing typical!
To think Frankie Gavin, one of our best amateurs and high-hopes got KO by this guy! What a fall from grace when he signed for Hearn. Eggington is very average. Skeete schooled him ffs.
The reputation of Eggington having a great chin and being tough got to his head and as a result has made no defensive improvements since he burst onto the scene. Also, him having a great chin is a myth, he was a massive Welter who was fed non punchers and shot fighters and he still got buzzed a few times and even hit the deck. His durability has always been overrated, and at 154 that will be apparent. I like Sam, but he needs to take a break and do some sole searching as he's taking a lot of punishment and he's only 24. I would also suggest a new trainer. Eggington is never going to be a slick fighter, but a nice tight high guard would be a ****ing start and learning how to clinch when hurt is also a must.
I called it! Im going to blow my horn continuously for the entire week. The thing is it could be any that would do that to eggington, no fighter in there right mind does that. Does he think his brain and head will last longer than a padded fist inside a glove? Rofl
Can’t believe I’m saying this but Joe Gallagher would be a good move for him. tight, high guard is his specialty
