The difference is that JC has tremendous movement speed and angles, not to mention, JC was LOSING when trying to swarm, pressure and attack Kessler from the start, he was getting countered by precise, hard blows.

JC had to draw Kessler in and give him a boxing lesson to defeat him, he couldn't even beat him inside either, Kessler proved the better inside fighter due to his timing and distance control.

Jesus Christ, watch the ****ing fights.

Another example of coming straight at Kessler is Andrade, who applied pressure all night long. Not the best fighter in the world, but do you guys not see that pressure seems to be something that Kessler does better against than an awkward, fast, multi-dimensional boxer-swarmer that mixes stylistic changes mid-fight? He won every single round against Andrade, who's proved a competent top 5 level fighter sense, a guy who can trouble many people, yet Kessler shuts him out 12-0, showing that he deals with come forward pressure with ease.

Pavlik sure as hell isn't going to outbox Kessler, his movement is slow and flat and pressure seems to be something that Kessler likes due to his ability to sustain distance well and accurately counter with pin-point blows....

Hmm, I wonder who to favour.

Kessler stylistically likes fighters who come right at him with limited defence, while he struggles against good boxers. He'll use his accurate counterpunching style to catch Pavlik as he plods his way towards him, tagging him with jabs and right hands. Kessler's advantage in speed and timing will allow him to constantly beat Pavlik to the punch, frustrating Pavlik.

Pavlik's best hope is to get Kessler to brawl with him, where his superor workrate will give him the advantage. This is unlikely however as I don't think Kessler is dumb enough to get caught up in a war. Instead Kessler will use his superior boxing skills and speed too counter Pavlik (Like he did at the begging of the Calzaghe fight). Don't be suprised if Kessler drops him with a big right hand during the fight.

This is an awful styles matchup for Pavlik, he'd lose a fairly wide decision or possibly get stopped.

Kessler is too big for Pavlik right now. Pavlik is a 160 fighter, Kessler is a big 168 - 175 boxer.

I'm going for Kessler in a SD (just flipped a coin), in what would be the start of an awesome Trilogy.

Pavlik wins by KO in an all out war. Kessler is faster but Pavlik is busier and they have equal power IMO. Kessler seems to get discouraged when things don't go his way and I don't think he'll be able to deal with Pavlik's workrate.

Pavlik has only one advantage over Kessler. He is less injury prone.

In every other department Kessler is either superior to Pavlik, or he matches him.

I feel almost embarrased for the people picking Pavlik in this fight. Kessler would dominate him, the stylistic advantage is huge. I wonder if people watch boxing :huh

    Handspeed:

Kessler, not even close, why argue with obvious reality!

    Footwork:

? Both fighter have underrated footwork, People said, before the Calzaghe fight that if Cal was able to get inside Kessler he would win by a mile, because Kessler wasnt able to box backfoot - turned out not to be true, at least kind of - Kesslers timing allowed him to keep hes stance timing Calzaghe coming in.

Pavliks footwork look a little heavy - fact is we dont really know yet.

    Power:

Pavlik - Probably even, but lets assume that Pavlik carries khis power up in weight.

    Timing:

    Kessler by a mile.

    Defence:

    Kessler easily.

    Overall tecnical skills:

    Kessler easily.

    Heart:

Pavlik, Kessler has a heart but a case could be made that he didnt go all in against Calzaghe. Pavlik surely wouldnt mind being KO trying to win.

    Result:

Kessler wins easy unless Pavlik luckies in ship rounds or Ko within 4 rounds.
    Kessler 70/30

 @ Kessler being faster than Pavlik. Anyone with two eyes and NO BIAS will see Pavlik is faster with his hands.

Calzaghe was getting caught coming in because he is typical Calzaghe with his hands down trying to use head movement while coming forward. No surprise there. He's been hit with clean right hands before. Kessler should have won that fight because he had every tool to do so. But mentally he fell apart. He doesn't adjust well to getting hit in the face. Nor did he handle the crowd well. He looked extremely tense in that Calzaghe fight.

I'll say it again. The jab will shut a counterpuncher down. A reserved approach that comes from behind the jab will work. Calzaghe elected to make it a sloppy fight by lunging in and not having his guard up. That was his own fault he got hit with those right hands. Pavlik's style will look all together different against Kessler.
