Has there ever been a fight in the history of boxing where one line got this blown out of proportion? Whether Sanchez believed this or not is a matter only known to Sanchez. What happened is the head corner remembered that his fighter was seemingly shafted by the judges in the first fight. And in the seventh round he realized a lot of the previous rounds were close, in fact they could easily gave gone to Canelo. And so Sanchez decided to tell Golovkin he's losing the fight. Golovkin will hear this and try harder to win. It's odd that this needs to be spelled out.

Well GGG took over from the 7th round anyway.

GGG needs a new coach. Abel totally embarrassed himself totally in the last couple of months.

I hear he wants to jump ship and join the Canelo camp so he can feel like a winner again.

I wonder if Sanchez was in on it as well, setting GGG up. Afterwards GB can say, "See? Even his own trainer thought he'd lost". I wouldn't put it past DLH to pull such a stunt.

Whispering your fighter in the ear he's losing. Ok. But maybe you don't want to whisper so loud for the entire world to hear? Might as well shout it from the rooftops. Sanchez does know that there are mics in the corners, right? What the hell man? And then there are Sanchez' post fight remarks as well.... smh

A large number of fans still to this day drone on about Floyd Sr. telling Jr. "you're fighting scared man" against Pacquiao when he was trying to get him to be more aggressive and throw more... It's the week after the fight, of course everything will be magnified but I don't see the line going down in history as I expect Nacho telling JMM in the third Pac fight that he had it won and play it safe in the final two rounds. It seems like when Sanchez told Golovkin, he was in fact losing the fight and maybe the tact worked perfect as most people gave most of the final rounds to Golovkin. Not sure what to complain about. Sanchez is sticking to his words after the fight, however. So it's how he feels, maybe you know better.

I just dont buy these conspiracy theories. Sanchez has ran his mouth on and off during the build up to the fight. Canelo ran, he didnt want to fight, couldnt hurt G, etc.. And when the fight started, he must have gotten the shock of his life when Canelo became the aggressor. However you think the fight should be scored, if you werent surprised that Canelo tried to walk down G, for rounds at a time, youre a liar.

Fight night is like test day for not only fighters, but trainers as well. And when Golovkin, the ruthless destroyer of heavyweight sparring partners, per Abel's words, was pushed back by little no steroid Canelo, he would have been embarrassed. I think Sanchez bends the truth a lot in media appearances. But he doesnt straight up lie, especially when the answer is obvious.

cant wait for the denial stage to get to acceptance, so we can discuss the truth of the fight.

Users can drone on about this all they want until it wears off. But ive seen a few Canelo stans justify the win like this: Abel told Golovkin he was losing by the midway point -> which means Canelo won the first half -> Canelo won at least round 8 and 9 -> we won deal with it

Not a good argument at all

100%. Pleasantly surprised. Canelo finally found his cojones and fought like a man. I tip my hat to him for that. The controversy is overshadowing his performance though. Canelo would have been a bigger winner if they hadn't robbed GGG.

Even if I'm the defending champ and I think the judges were wrong in the first one, I'm coming out like a madman for round 12 if the corner tells me it's close. Probably sooner than the twelfth, actually. I know what I wouldn't be doing: praying that a stiff jab alone will help me keep my belt. The days of needing to decisively beat the champion have been gone for awhile.

Alvarez can punch. But GGG has faced harder hitters at 160, and I just don't understand why he didn't get a little more aggressive. Maybe the counters discouraged him. Maybe age. That's what old guys do, fail to get off punches when they need to. Not sure. I just don't think this is a robbery of any sort, seen too many actual ones to feel too sorry for Golovkin here.

Lots of parallels with Joe Louis i think. Both had great jabs and were known to be power punchers, although its more their timing and accuracy than pure power. Joe Louis at a similar age also underwent the same style change from swarmer-slugger to boxer-puncher. Combination punching and fast forward movement replaced by single jabs and the occasional two piece. Oddly enough both fought their better opposition after this change.

Anyway, what im saying is that when big combination punchers get old, their power remain but their timing and reflexes dull. The jab is usually your fastest weapon, and usually an older veteran's most surefire way of landing on the younger guy. If there was a fix, i dont think so but if, Golovkin was not in on it, not from the effort he was putting into the shots that were clipping Canelo. Its just that so many more were missing or not even thrown. Hesitating. Golovkin's timing and reflexes are definitely not what they used to be. So of course he has to resort to the jab.

Joe Louis was not a swarmer, actually. But otherwise
