Loma and Usyk got themselves pretty well known quite quickly I would say

No but both Ward and Crawford were 5 year pros and 19 fights in until they actually fought a live body and Ward was an ex Gold medallist......that's the point.

Loma and Usyk where elite amateurs that jumped straight into the deep end without needing 5 years and 19 fights against bums.

They were also mid 20s when they turned pro. That makes a big difference. Do you actually think Loma in his second pro fight if he turned pro at 19 beats Salido? He did not do that when he was 26.

Yea no, 20 years old, especially in the SMW division is not a fully grown man. It's a disadvantage to be only 20 in the SMW division. Ward didn't get rushed. He stepped up when he was 25 against Kessler.

Yes, he's learned from GGG. You don't have time to screw around when you turn pro late. He's only had 12 fights and he's already a 3 weight champ. He has no choice. He's 30 years old.

No and neither would any of the fighters mentioned.

Ward was 25 when he fought his first live opponent....Loma was a champion at 26.

I agree they all lose to Salido at 19 for their 2nd pro fight.

Well yes, they have no choice after turning pro late. Imagine if Loma had been a pro for 4 more years to date? He'd be a much bigger star. Also probably wouldn't have fought Salido so early and lost.

    Usyk got really lucky.
He turned pro at the right time. Cruiserweight has always been lackluster in terms of big names. Luck gave him a great opportunity and boy oh boy did he seize it.

Well he entered a tournament where he could beat all the best Cruiserweights in the world and unify the division to become undisputed. He's an Olympic Gold Medalist. The IBF, WBO, WBC, WBA, The Ring and the Lineal Champion. With all this Bull**** alphabet nonsense, magazine titles and intangible Bull**** like a Lineal Championship he's somehow managed to win them all.

And yet in America almost nobody still even knows who he is. He can use his status as Undisputed Cruiserweight champ to propel himself in the HW picture though.

But even without the tournament, he was already a title holder by his 10th fight.
And he didn't beat just anyone, he beat Glowacki. Glowacki was one of the top dogs at the time.

Well, but he still needs to get a move on. He's already 31 years old. If he wants to make a large impact in the HW division he will need his legs and quick hands.
