    One thing I've always wondered is why do sprinters have huge upperbodies? I can understand the need for huge legs, but wouldn't they be better off having lean upperbodies? Obviously not but why?

    Because the pumping of the arms is a key factor in running fast.

    It's about strength and being explosive, so you need your body to be built for this.
