I was thinking Ingle too, but then we'd maybe hear ingle say bad stuff about Kovalev too. I'll tell you why this is a good thing for Kovalev with mcgirt because Kovalev will be more likely to score a Ko in the first 5 rounds than he would've with the other guy... just if it doesn't happen after 5 and Alvarez is more fresh, then it could be repeat.

Also I think Kovalev doesn't always listen to his trainers that's just how he is, and 4 months or so away from the rematch. I'm not sure just how much he can help Kovalev once the bell rings. but he can get him to do some things. proper type of sparring get him to be more aggressive early. more sharper.
I will say this Kovalevs best days are still behind him, this is a winnable fight that I do not favour him in, he likely will be the betting underdog. Perhaps he took Alvarez lightly and his camp didn't pick up on weakness. but who knows. so many thing could happen. he could win by first round tko. or he could get stopped in 5 and retire.

he could win his title back and take a couple softers fights and then take a big one and retire with more money. but I feel his aura is gone. to me he isn't the best fighter at 175 anymore and he never will be. I know he is a huge favourite on this forum but that's the way it goes.

It's going to texas so if it goes 12 who knows who gets it. anything can happen. (but I don't know if people think it could go 12)

    Anything can happen.

He could resurrect the greatest trainer in Steward and nothing would change. There is no point of a coach if you don’t listen at this point Sergey should just go ahead and train himself.

Tbh this is an embarrassing move, this guy criticises American coaches and he gets his ass whooped and runs back to an American coach.

Kovalev needs to rock w/ Freddie Roach or Robert Garcia. I believe that they can unlock his offense to a higher level.

Always like Buddy as a trainer, he was a pretty damn good fighter too in his day.

    Hm...well that's an interesting move.

Not "interesting" as in automatically bad, like with Gvozdyk picking Atlas...but not interesting necessarily in a good way either. Will have to see how this goes.

That was a bad deal with both jackson & kovalev...lets see if Kovalev has learned some respect! On the other hand Jackson is lower than a snakes belly giving info on "His" fighter to the other camp, can't & hasn't helped his rep IMO.

Won't change anything, he's 35 and on the way out.
So the trainer he just hired last year doesn't want to train him anymore after that KO loss.
    Interesting.

Buddy was a great fighter, and is currently a very good trainer. But, style wise, and personality wise, I doubt this will be a very good fit.

Kovalev has a sensitive chin and his heart ain't big as a mustard seed. There is no help for him and he has seen his best days.
