But got knocked out! Great performance from a fighter who I felt wasn't going to be as competitive as he was. Just goes to show that age is just a number.
Povetkin is a real warrior. He brought the fight and battled to the best of his abilities. Both Ortiz and Povetkin are true warriors of the sport, hindered by their limitations in old age, but they both laid it all on the line, hurt their opponents and took their KO losses like warriors. That’s the Warrior’s Code. When you see this sort of thing in boxing you can’t help but swell with pride for people you’ve never met. I’m in awe of the way both guys performed against Joshua and Wilder.
How does it show that age is just a number? He got knocked out because his feet had slowed down significantly by the 4th round, and it was obvious he wasn't as powerful as his younger days. This fight highlighted the importance of youth.
Credit has to be given to Joshua also for turning the story of the fight around. In the Andre Ward vs Kovalev rematch, although doing okay in winning the rounds Kovalev was never able to turn around the lead Ward built up in the story of the fight from the early rounds. And he paid the price.
39 does not beat 28 unless 39 is an all time great and 28 isn’t very good. Yet Povetkin in the lead 4-2 with Joshua hurt? I’ll comment more after see it.
Ask Hopkins, Manny, Floyd, De La Hoya, Marquez, Morales, Chavez Sr, Klitschko, Lewis, Leonard, Hearns, Toney, Tarver, GGG, ECT... All fighters who performed high level for years consistently well into their mid 30's and beyond. You ****ing idiots like to play the age game like it plays a part into every defeat your fighter loses on this big stage. ****ing jokes. Instead of giving credit to the fighters who beat your guys you come up with excuses after excuses to take away credit. You guys are the worst fans in boxing.
Sour grapes Your boy got straight bodied He almost fell through the ropes and was crawling on all fours like a bum looking for change in the gutter GET REKT
Mid 30s? We are talking about a 39 year old man. How many heavyweights in the last 20 years have won belts at that age or older?
I picked joshua to win. Povetkin isn’t by boy. But it sounds like a 39 year old exposed yours. Now we know why Joshua picked soft toches early. At age 35-36 I think we’d see a different result.
