Did Golovkin had a chance to brake Mayweather’s record?

Well let's say he got the nod over Canelo another two times. He would have had a mandatory in Charlo and if he wanted to unify still then he'd have to fight either Jacobs again or Derevyanchenko and then the winner of Saunders and Andrade. At some point Murata will be called mandatory so he's gonna have to go through a pretty tough run through his late thirties even if he does squeak some hand picked opponents in.

Personally I don't think he'll have that many fights, I think 3-4 more and he'll be done, he's made his millions, has a legacy as a top middleweight even if it's not as good as people had hoped and he has no real need to carry on into his fourties.

I'd say he should take a fight against someone like Murata who he should beat, Canelo rematch and then depending on how that goes maybes one or two more to finish his career. I think he will get beat legitimately in his next few fights if they are all tough ones but would have rather seen his first loss come another way than protecting the cash cow.

Now now, stay focused, that wasn't the question asked. If, instead of fighting Canelo after Jacobs, Golovkin had maintained more or less the same level of comp could he have won another thirteen times and reached 50-0?

Specifically Canelo. Let's say he fought nothing but top-10 ranked middleweights (any configuration, could be top or bottom, as long as they're ranked top-10) but not Canelo, for thirteen more fights, starting from when he fought Jacobs. 50-0 or no?

He was visibly on the slide by the time he stepped up and fought Jacobs and even if he wasn't robbed (take note that I'm losing the word 'robbed' very loosely here) against Cleanelo twice, he would, in my estimation, ultimately go on to get out pointed by BJS, handing him his first career loss. That said, I don't think any current top contenders are beating Gennady by stoppage but if he had gone on to beat Floyd's record, it would be the result of him finishing his career through largely avoiding elite technical boxers like BJS (and probably avoiding a rematch with Jacobs too.)
