Fair enough mate. I wouldn't have had any problem with AJ winning it. Was a great year for him and his Povetkin stoppage was savage.

AJ for me. Parker and Povetkin are way beyond what anyone else has done.

Don't know Eubank would give him a run for his money for that title !!

It's a boxer of the year award ffs. For what they have achieved in the last year. There would be no point in having these awards if every year they they just awarded it to the boxer fighting at the highest level currently as it would just be a British P4P award.

It's arguable that going from Commonwealth/ British title level to being one of the best in the division in a year is a better achievement than being the number one in that division at the start of the year and remaining the number 1 12 months later.

Go and have a look at the criteria ffs.

Beating an undefeated World champion and unifying for me has a very strong case for being considered as the fighter of the year .

I'd agree. Presumably that's why he was nominated. If he hadn't have won it last year then I'd imagine there was a good chance he would have got it this year.

to play devils advocate, barely anyone predicted anything other than an AJ win in those fights, whereas no one gave Warrington a prayer against Selby. i'd have given it to Warrington this year, even with just that win.

Haha you idiot, pipe down. No, that isn’t even arguable. AJ was the number 1 as you said, then he fought another unbeaten world champion and beat him, then KOd a top 5 fighter, who had never been KOd before.

It’s not even up for debate, pal.

    AJ achieved far more.

At the end of the day, Taylor is a world class operator fighting people levels below him.

So just because AJ is way better than all his rivals (top 5 fighters) then he shouldn’t get as much credit?

The logic your using here is astounding.

If anything, AJ deserves more credit for being so much better than his rivals.

Why should he get more credit for beating opponents people knew he would, than Warrington, who beat a fighter who no one gave him a hope against? i don't get how you don't understand that

there's nothing wrong with the logic, chill out a bit

Also let's not forget that Selby was IBF fighter if the year. He's defended his belt many times.
    He was a true champion.

First of all I'm not your pal.

Second of all it is up for debate because Taylor was given the award by the regulators of the sport in this country.

Maybe next year they should do away with nominations though and avoid any debate by getting some muppet on a forum to decide for everyone.

No, it isn’t up for debate you *****.

You said, and I quote, ‘Taylor has arguably achieved more than AJ’

That, is not up for debate. Unless your debating with ******s then fire away.

I’m not even particularly big on AJ, but facts are facts.

Lewis Ritson a finalist lol, hype job of the year more like it

For me it has to be AJ or Callum Smith,

Josh Taylor isn't even third, that would be Warrington

    Take it easy Dorothy.

Yes, I did say what you have quoted. You clearly don’t understand or are incapable of understanding context though.

When you try to respond to people it would be helpful in future on this forum (and it would probably help you in life generally) if you take in to account the context of what people have said.
