Smith said in the Sun newspaper 'Benavidaz is a good fighter and stylistically we`d make a good fight.' Who would win?
Benavidez should be stripped and serve a ban for his coke taking. At least he admitted to it but it's bad for the sport if they allow fighters to take illegal and dangerous drugs even if they aren't performance enhancing.
Smith really impressed me. I hadn't heard much about him before he took on Groves who I consider a very solid fighter. Smith was pretty much in control the whole way and ended the fight in convincing fashion. He appears to be the best of the Smith brothers and maybe the best at 168. Benavidez will make for an interesting fight with him they are similar fighters. Gilberto Ramirez is also a good match up the rest of the division I don't see being much of a problem for him. Eubank Jr, Degale and Dirrell all good opponents but after seeing how he handled Groves who I think is better then those 3, I like him in these match up.
How is him sniffing blow when he isn't even in camp bad for the sport? Pernell Whitaker (among others) smoked crack and he was a much bigger name than Benavidez and boxing is still doing fine.
You won't be asking that after the image of Benavidez standing over Callum's prone unconscious body is emblazoned in your memory. So in the words of the Road Dogg Jesse James, "Oh? You didn't know, well yo ass better call somebody".
Likewise, I don't see how doing coke is really 'bad for the sport', aside from being a bad social role model, and boxers are seldom there for that purpose anyway.
Callum Smith definitely didn’t speak to that paper. I think the quote is lifted off an IFL interview.
