Amazing rare footage. Was that Irish Tex Goldstein Tom was fighting at the 1:15 mark? Never seen the man fight before. He truly is as outstanding as all the stories say.

This highlight criminally omitted Boston Tom's bout with Irish Tom ("Twin") Mittens, the older of Prof. Welton's Boxing Cats.

Boston Tom may have been the finest fighter ever to come out of Philly.

Ahh, excellent, Vesti. I assume this is the footage you spoke of last night over a game of cards in Jimmy's Corner's tavern?

I just love some of the training footage where he is sawing a giant log to help build up endurance in his latissimus Dorsi and Rhomboid muscles. The pulling action will also naturally help build up strength in the Bicep. Then we see Boston Tom indulge in some Sumo wrestling to help strengthen the core and build up those famous Quadricep's. It was those aforementioned tree trunk quadricep's that allowed Tom to produce tremendous power as he torqued away with deadly combinations on the inside, almost reminiscent to a Philadelphia Jack O'Brien trained fighter. Wow, oh wow! Can you imagine if a Boston Tom McMustache fell into the lap of a Jack O'Brien or Jackie Blackburn?

This footage is gold dust and must be preserved. In an era where fighters are brainwashed by so called "sport scientists" (usually in their early 20s) to lift bits of scrap metal and run on stupid machines inside a germ infested gymnasium, this is a friendly reminder that the greats of yesteryear were out in the coniferous landscape using functional movement by sawing up giant logs, breathing in the clean oxygen provided by the spruce trees that tower over them.

They just don't make them like Boston Tom anymore.

    Well it's Boston Tom McMustache,
    A fearsome man indeed!
His two minutes of grainy footage that might not actually show him in action,
    Is all he'll ever need!

A real shame the black fighters refused to fight him.

If so, dare I say we might be looking at a fighter who would be mentioned in the same breath as Sammy Langford, Jack Johnson, James J Corbett, Larry Holmes, Liston, Floyd Patterson and David Tua?

Chocholate Negro Kid deserves the utmost respect for his 14 NC's to Boston Tom, even if he did get knocked out in half of them.

real shame both Whites and blacks drew the Colour line. too bad he fought in an era that was so hard that the Colour Brown had not yet been invented.
