You're quoting a rule by RING magazine. RING magazine withdrew recognition of him in February THIS YEAR.

And they did it because he was inactive, and then he subsequently announced and will fight three times this year.

LINEAL champions retire all the time. And then they come back. And they are still recognized as the champ.

For instance, Mike Tyson announced his retirement after he beat Michael Spinks.

That's why there have only been three men in the history of the heavyweight division who retired as the LINEAL champ and stayed retired.

But that doesn't mean only three LINEAL champs ever announced their retirement.

I thought that was pretty obvious to anyone who has followed the sport.

They did from November 2015 to February 2018.

You only lose the LINEAL title in the ring.

 

He should have lost it as soon as he tested positive for drugs.

 

Nobody 'won' any mental battle on that stage. People are looking wayyyy too much into it. They were both having a bit of fun selling the fight. Fury & Wilder even talk on the phone to each other. No one got into the other's head.

 

Fury getting inside of Wilder's head, big time. Two more months of this and Wilder may crack.

Gotta hand it to them, the build up to this fight could be pretty spectacular with the showmanship!

 

Tyson Fury and Wilder probably have the most respect and love for each other in the history of heavyweights...If they were gay they'd be a couple for sure.

Wilder is going to be devastated when Fury beats him...

I don't see how either of these men make it out of the fight without someone retiring.

Fury will box his head off and make him retire

or Wilder will KO Fury and make him retire

I don't see any middle ground....but if the middle ground occurs we are in for a FIGHT.

I think Wilder is totally screwed. Fury is going to dictate the build up (as we see here) and the entirety of the fight.

 

Both of them are crazy and normally they should get locked up but i love it.
