    2006 lacy in a 50/50 fight
    2007 kessler is a 50/50 fight
    2008 hopkins in a 50/50 fight.

whatever you think of calzaghe , you cannot accuse him of not stepping up to the plate in the last 3 years and not taking risky fights.

the funny thing is most of you gunning calzaghe are mayweather fans who always justified his fights because it was lower risk / higher reward.

joe has chosen to avoid the biggest fights out there his entire career and milk the public, so it shouldn't come to any surprise to anyone that he's going to duck pavlik and "bask in the welsh glory" of beating jones.

My point is that Calzaghe is the Champ that rubs the American public,(sorry to generalise but it seems to be true) up the wrong way for numerous reasons. And your hypin up any old Tom , Jeff or Kelly for no other reson than he's the best you got. Jeff Lacy is one example of this, but he got his ass beat too. Before that he was the 'New Tyson' am I wrong?

Bottom line is Joe is fightin Roy Jones because its the richest fight out there for him at the moment considering Pavlik is a (realtively speakin) nobody.

I like Pavlik, I respect him as a fighter, its just the nuthuggers attitude that gets to me.

Thank you very much. Thats the point I try to make (and I'm ignored) about what even his own fans in the UK said about him before his "amazing" thrashing of that bum Jeff Lacy. He beats that clown & then vaults into everyones P4P list. Simply unbelievable!

true, but because the term "champion" is like the emperor's new clothes (if you know the story), then it's easy to pull wool over the eyes of joe public.

you wanna know why that win gets so hyped? look at the fans and boxing press in your own country, not us. you hyped him up beyond belief, joe knocked him down in brutal fashion.

    conundrum.

since, as i've reiterrated, joe has never fought a top fighter in his prime - and never sought to.

but...lacy did come with a good US rep, you're right. that's why it got hyped. it also got hyped because it was perceived as one of the very few fights that warren and calzaghe took that risked his padded record. you need to throw that back on british perceptions of calzaghe if you want to appear without bias.

    Whats the implication?

Calzaghe is a duck as well as a chicken?

    Or a ducker?
