It's completely clear now why Yarde's team declined the fight.

    Thoughts?

Thought Callum was brilliant. Showed he has a pretty good chin too and the first KD was illegal - Artur hit him on the break hard.

Yes I agree, based on last night you'd fancy Johnson by KO, the only question mark is just how hard Yarde punches. He still has a puncher's chance until proven otherwise.

Yarde will stay miles away.....protected pad fighter just a pin up boy for Fwanks BT deal imo. Johnson KOs Yarde without a doubt but we will never see it unfortunately. It’s about the fans Fwank so u say so make it happen!

Now obvious he is very heavy handed. He is one of those fighters who looks like he is wearing oversized gloves. I was impressed by the way he went out head hunting from the first bell. He can confidently come back now and clean up the domestic division or carve out an Andy Lee, Spike type USA career as the Yank Irish casuals will love him on under cards.

On another note, imagine if Yarde actually faced Beterbiev?

Price esque Highlight KO would be inevitable.

Agree with this and the thread title. Callum went in there to take Beterbiev off his game plan and ultimately off his feet and came pretty damn close. The ref definately dropped the ball with that 1st round knock down after what appeared to be a call to stop, may have just tempered Callum's inclination to go on the attack quite so much.

Callum definately did himself proud and should now look to clear up at domestic and euro level prior to making one last run at a title. I think he'd get Yarde out in 4 rnds going in with a similar game plan and feel that only Buatsi is likely to challenge him domestically any time soon.

To be honest I think Yarde's power is a carefully crafted illusion. It's very easy to look good when you're facing the level of opposition that he is. Chris Byrd would have looked like a P4P puncher had he faced a similar level of opposition.

I think he'll be exposed as having overate power and glass jawed too. Don't think it happens anytime soon though, there's probably another 10 Hungarian and Argentinian guys waiting in line to be magically vaulted into the WBO top 15 for Yarde to have a go at first.

Yardes fights are all cat and mouse fights , Yardes is the cat and the tiny lhw/smw is the mouse the aim of the game is for the cat to corner the mouse and kill it , of course the cat is going to look powerful , put that pussie in a dog fight and it's going to look a lot different.

Great effort from Johnson, thought his straight right was more of a looping punch instead or turning it over properly and turning the hip but his left hook is clearly one of if not the best in the division. If he lands that right he puts them all down and you would fancy him to do the same to yarde.

Johnson might have power but he is awfully slow.

I think Yarde busts him up. Too much speed and movement.

Beterbiev was head first the whole fight and didn't respect Johnsons power. Even after being hurt badly he was still the aggressor. Johnson must have still been recovering himself because he really needed to jump on him and he couldn't.

Beterbiev has been dropped before, he can be hurt. Johnson did much better than expected though.

Try telling that to the Sky commentators who made out Johnson was the first to do it. Just like when they neglected to mention that Takam had been sparked by Povetkin (before Chisora did him).
