Fury's earnings for his 2nd coming

Very very risky though in my mind. Fury walked away from a massive payday in the Wlad rematch (which guaranteed him a higher share than in the first fight) even though the fight was signed and his licensing situation was in good order at the time.

Developing a long-term plan with that kind of guy is a risky business proposition.

 

You're right, though it was a very risky move, there was no guarantee at the time Wilder would fight Fury and there's still some doubt as how well this fight will do. I don't think Warren will make all his money back in the first fight if true. I think Wilder/Fury will do reasonably well but won't be the success they hope, won't be a disaster either, probably 300-400K in US and 400-500K in the UK.

The success of the rematch which is where Warren could then make a good return of course depends upon the first fight. If it's exciting then great Warren cashes in big time as do Wilder and Fury but if it's a repeat of Fury/Wilder I don't expect BT or the fans to being throwing their cash at it.

Hearn isn't wrong about Fury being boring though. Fact is Fury for all the trash talk and excitement in the build up to his fights isn't an exciting fighter the Wlad win showed that. He's not a puncher and is at his most effective when boxing defensively. If Fury decides to mix it up too much he risks getting KO'ed. If Fury wins I expect it to be a dull fight where he racks up round after round to win a decision.

Hearn is bitter though, he pretends not to be but you know deep down he's hating the fact Wilder/Fury is happening. He's also scared that if it is a success he'll have to stump up more cash for a final showdown with Joshua.

 

Yes I agree. Frank already scored one own goal with his show last year with Degale and Selby at the Copperbox. He was obviously overpaying Degale on a fight-by-fight basis and there was no chance he’d get that purse covered by ticket sales because the place was half empty. He was setting up for Degale-Groves or Degale-Saunders. Then obviously Degale lost his title and he didn’t have his rematch under Frank.

 

no way either of those 2 fights got close to 5mil in revenue lol.. warrens losing a forchune if true. although after the wilder fight I suppose it would put him back in the profits.

 

Could be that BT Sport was overpaying.

He prob earned 500K-1mil for the fights. Hearn offered him more but that was for Whyte and Bellew

 

How's it embarrassing ? How's it even news , Hearn told the world he made Fury an offer months ago.

 

Over paying by 90% ? Have a day off id be surprised if he got 5 million combined for those fights.

It does seem rather bizarre and BS.
No way Warren has that kind of money just to throw it around. Even if Fury got 2.5mil for each fight, it would seem like a stretch.
Likely Fury is being cheeky and looking for Hearn to significantly up his offer.
