Round 1

Mohammedi is pawing the left jab across the gap and brushing down across Shishkin's face with it, falling in behind it and initiating ragdoll clinches, putting Shishkin repeatedly into a headlock. Mohammedi playing mind games on the younger fighter, who probably has never dealt with so ugly a style before. Shishkin having some difficulty getting off at medium-long range, his jabs and hooks splashing off the roaming vertically-bent defensive forearm of Mohammedi.

10-9 Mohammedi, close, mostly just disrupting Shishkin's rhythm and landing softly with just enough jabs to get on the scoreboard.

Very close opening round as expected. Mohammedi should never came back to Russia lol. Will be another cracker on the cards i think.

 

Round 2

Shishkin is doubling his jab into Mohammedi's guard. Lead rights by Shishkin, halting just short of colliding with Mohammedi's parrying left jab and then skipping over it to whistle past the moving head or graze the bridge of the nose. Mohammedi throws a 1-2 and then yanks his upper body outward, caught with the very end of Shishkin's counter 1-2 while pulled into a deep back-bend but riding the punches so they barely sting. Mohammedi gets his arms around Shishkin and they wrench each other violently, and both get in some effective infighting before they become too enmeshed. Ref ordering frequent breaks. They fence with jabs at mid-range, Mohammedi in a partial crouch until sideways trotting in to grab. Shishkin keeps his left hand free to shove Mohammedi off and raises his right arm high overhead to deny Mohammedi a handhold. Shove off and jab by Shishkin. Overhand right behind a jab from Shishkin, ducked, hitting nape.

This is very close but Shishkin is working cleaner imo.

Mohammedi is diving in and grabbing like mad, behind a pretense of jabbing squarely into the center of the six-pack of Shishkin. Mohammedi is making sure to curl his left wrist around the back of Shishkin's neck every time he "misses" a "jab" up top, pulling him close. Shishkin doing his best to wrestle free and work the body when clinched, and circling left in quick stutter-stepping motions working a snappy jab when they're broken apart. Overhands by Mohammedi caught on the gloves as Shishkin remains at preferred range snapping jabs.

The battle of the jabs. Both jabbing but Shishkin landing more although Mohammedi getting a bit better in with his left hand.

 

Sucks, this isn't the fight Mohammedi needed right now after being robbed against Chudinov, especially now that I'm seeing the way the styles are clashing - he's going to make Shishkin look bad yet still lose wide. He's officially going to be on a 2 loss skid now, which means his stock plummets (as does the financial share he can demand, and how choosy he can be about what assignments he takes) and he's that much further away from contention.
