Jerry Quarry vs Mike Weaver

Jerry Quarry could be a fast starter and Weaver apart from Dokes rematch slow.
If Weaver survives the early onslaught i see Quarry quick hands and counter
punching troubling Weaver before the fast past tires Quarry and Weaver
recuperative enable him to survive and stop Quarry on cuts in 10 .

 

Jerry on points, too versatile for Mike.

 

In a 10 round fight, concur with above ^.

 

Could go either way, and could see Jerry pulling this one out by late round stoppage. But Mike was no slouch, coldcocking Tate, and kayoing Coetzee. In a title match. Mike stays dangerous enough late to steal a majority verdict.

 

Probably lean towards Quarry.

Tough bout for sure, but I think that quick short left hook of his does the trick. Weaver threw a nasty left hook himself to both the body and head, which few do. Usually it's upstairs only. But Mike's is a lot slower. Sooner or later he'll get beat to the punch and he'll never see the punch from Quarry.

 

Quarry was a much better fighter and came out as always looking for a win unlike Weaver who seemed like a disinterested participant many a times. I'll take the more talanted more driven Quarry.

quary is much more competent and motivated. Weaver couldnt beat a tiring Dokes in a rematch. Jerry has beat fighters better than Mike (a lazy fighter)

 

Jerry outpointed guys like ron lyle and mac foster. he´d do the same to weaver.

 

I wonder if the two ever sparred? Their careers slightly intersected and they were both California heavyweights. I think I read Mike Weaver and Ken Norton sparred a few times and Norton gave him his nickname "Hercules".

 

Like the majority I see Quarry winning this most likely via a stoppage anywhere from rd 8 on. I do think Weaver would be a dangerous test and I like the responses that have picked him...I just think Quarry would show himself the superior boxer and more focused of the two

 

I go with Quarry by decision, and possibly early stoppage. Weaver was a slow starter, he seemed to get more dangerous later in fights. If Quarry jumps on him early he may get him out of there ala Earnie Shavers.
