I think Rafael Marquez should be a lock and expect him to get in for the 2019 class. Hatton shouldn’t be near but I feel he’ll get enough votes.

    Johnny Bumphus did, too.

And I don't think anyone believes Marlon Starling was in his prime in 1982. He got better later.

I'm referring to the rematch in 84.

Starling looked pretty damn good to me. It was only a year later that he would turn in one of his best performances in dominating Simon Brown. He was just no match for Curry.

Starling lost to Pedro Vilella four months after Curry beat him.

Starling turned out to be a very good fighter when he got older and matured. Very good. Not great. And if beating Marlon Starling got you in the Hall of Fame, there'd be a lot more questionable characters being added.

The Curry "love" on this board is crazy. Every elite boxer Curry faced knocked him out.

Vinny Pazienza has bigger wins than Donald Curry. And Pazienza has no business in the Hall of Fame.

Marquez is a first ballot guy, along with Chris John. This class is very weak overall with perhaps no true lock to get in.

I have the same feeling; I'm predicting the Class to be: Calderon, Hatton, Marquez. But we can't sleep on Pazienza or Michalczewski. What do you think of Michalczewski's chances by the way...does he sneak into this Class?

I really want Michalczewski to make it this time (he's been on the ballot since 2011). But what I hate about the HOF the most is that it's popularity over achievements. I think Lupe Pintor and/or Hilario Zapata were on the ballot for 15 years or so before finally getting elected. The problem is the voting pool is heavily American and heavily biased towards U.S.-based fighters. That's why Michalczewski and Ottke will likely miss the cut again :-(.

Curry has not made it for years. He is not a lock to get in.

Taylor, Moorer, Jackson is my guess.

I agree the voting pool is too heavily American based. More diversity is needed in Asia, South America, and Europe.

While popularity will always matter, I do think with the aid of computers the voters are looking at accomplishments with more visibility and importance.
