He is waiting to see if Calzaghe is set on Jones or not. Once he determines Calzaghe isn't an option then he will decide.
thats not right. calzaghe has openly said he won't fight pavlik in favour of jones and that's true to form from his whole career.
Jsimps, usually a good source, says that we should know about Joe by this weekend. Don't expect Arum to let moss grow on Kelly. He wants him to fight 4 times a year so he can keep his weight down. And make money.
I think he'll probably decide at 1:17 PM Central daylight time on July 17thatsch Kelly does not make those decisions. He lets Arum, Dunkin, and his dad make those calls. Just like he said after the Lockett fight; "I'll fight godzilla if they tell me to. Probably go home and ***** about it, but I'd fight him." Most likely the next fight will be Rubio in Ohio. I believe he is the WBC mandatory. After that Abraham next January. After that a fight at 168. I do not think he will move up ahead of schedule unless Calzaghe remembers where he left his balls.
:deal britsh posters will hate that but it's the truth. "i'm a great fighter - i just don't want to fight them in their prime".
Isn't Kelly Pavlik's next fight against Rubio on Sept. 27? I hope Abraham fights Lorenzo or Marquez on the Pavlik undercard, setting up a fight between Pavlik and Abraham in early 2009..
Nothing is signed as far as I know at this moment. Jsimps, a usually reliable source, said Calzaghe looks unlikely but we will know after this weekend. Like I said, Arum won't let moss grow on Kelly waiting around.
I'm pretty sure Calzaghe will be fighting Jones Jr and not Pavlik.. If so, I hope it pans out like I mentioned..
Kelly Pavlik will likely wait for the John Duddy fight on June 28th then make his decision. But if Calzaghe has a change of heart ( or Jones says "no thanks" to him ) then he'll take a CAlzaghe fight without hesitation. ( Assuming that Joe is not so commited to not fighting Pavlik that he seeks out a third opponent ) But Assuming no Calzaghe fight, he'll fight either Rubio or Duddy in September. Duddy would be more money but he's got to be impressive on June 28th for it to happen. Pavlik would prefer a fighter who might last a little longer than Lockett.
Interesting, but Duddy is NOT one of the names thrown out by Arum of late. I think he would still be #2 behind Lorenzo WBC rankings? Yep. Just checked: 1 .- Giovanni Lorenzo (Dom. R) 2 .- John Duddy (Ireland) 3 .- Marco Antonio Rubio (Mexico) FECOMBOX
