    Mcgrain does some good write-ups and Ted Sares is one i enjoy reading.

    If someone asked you to pick one or more boxing scribes currently working the beat who would you advise as a must read?

    His podcast is **** he’s always trying to congratulate himself and comes across as very condescending.

    While technically more of an editor than a writer, Claude Abrahams of Boxing Monthly in the UK had an almost supernatural ability to predict the outcome of a fight.

    Kevin Mitchell (writer not boxer) used to be pretty good too. Bunce knows his way around a typewriter as well, but his fawning on TV is getting too much plus he did a hatchet job on that female boxer who whistle-blew on PEDS's.

    The choices are pretty dire today tbh. The old school guys were professional journalists. Thomas Hauser is the only one that comes to mind today who could rate with them.

    Agreed.

    Ralph Wiley is a personal favorite. His essay titled Then All the Joy Turned To Sorrow about the Mancini-Kim fight is exceptional. Really anything in his book called Serenity: A Boxing Memoir is outstanding.

    Off the top of my head...I’ve enjoyed the work of Hauser, Kimball, Mailer, Joyce Carol Oates. Even Bert Sugar.
