Agreed this guy had/has serious talent. Somewhat of a defense, but he did have both of his legs broken in an attack. That’s bound to set anyone back.
Yeah Kell Brook, poor matchmaking, spent his prime stagnating and chasing Khan rather than building his resume and profile. His leg incident occurred at the worst possible time, but still should have done more.
Kirkland Laing pretty much corners the market for wasted boxing talent. Scott Harrison could have been so much more. Although he had a pretty good career, Naseem Hamed never quite reached the heights a lot of us (myself included) expected before he jumped to featherweight.
Billy Joe. Should be undisputed mw champ by now based on natural ability But being a bellend seems to be more important to him. Shame Tyson fury, what a waste of the last 2-3 years when he should have been ruling the division. Eubank jnr. Too late for him now as his style has been engrained in him. Could things have been much different had he had a proper trainer years ago Kell brook, wasted his prime. Joe Joyce, has come into the pro ranks too late, shame. Naseem hamed. Apparently went into the Barrera fight underprepared and that was the last we saw of him. What an unreal talent he was. Shame he never conquered the US David haye. Retired too early, came back too late.
Tony Ayala Jr. Ike Ibebucchi Maybe not the greatest, but I remember a promising young middle from Tuesday Night Fight names Lamar "Kidfire" Parks who got the HIV. Always felt bad about it.
James “chunky” DeGale Switches off during fights costing him the fight against groves. Then getting dropped in the 12 against jack, should have boxed on the back foot the last round and would have been WBC Champ and ibf. Doesn’t live the lifestyle, fighting Caleb turax in the easy defence and getting bullied the full fight, wins a poor rematch
Kell Brook Fought bums all the way up until beating Porter Then tried to one up khan by taking a suicide fight with GGG suffering irreparable damage in the process When you consider he was lighting spence (who is p4p level) up until his eye went.... Blowing up in weight, not living the life, getting himself stabbed in dubious circumstances, taking silly fight with golovkin, his weird khan obsession. I think when his career end he left a lot on the table. I also think he did it to himself.
That's the story yes but he actually got in Emanuel Steward for this fight. You will hear all sorts broken hands, weight struggles etc but the truth is the better man won on the night. He did fight after this, a lackluster UD win over Manuel Calvo for the IBO featherweight. He was booed by the crowd for most of the fight.
The only thing he could have done is left Eddie for Haymon in America. he was getting ducked by all them PBC welters they were asking for silly money. They were even prepared to over pay Diego Chaves .. that was the biggest name they could afford. Eddie couldn't deliver the big welter fights... which is rare cause he usually delivers.. but in this case he failed. Failure to get a big fight after Porter and the IBF constantly demanding weak mandatory challengers.. led them to going for the Golovkin fight.. big mistake! and then another big mistake fighting Spence! Plus it's stupid the way theyve been chasing the bum Khan for years when Khan clearly doesn't wanna face him. they should have just ****ed him off. Thye should have had that Chaves fight, and then focused on 154 and becoming a mandatory. I remember there was talk of him fighting Liam Smith when he was champ, that would have been a fairly easy win for Kell.
