It's worth mentioning that was the worst version of Hughie Fury we've seen last night. After the cut he abandoned all his attributes and gassed himself out, which was dreadful to see at his age. That doesn't make any difference to his abysmal performance. But I wouldn't write off his career at world level just yet. Both himself and Peter learned a lot last night.
Fury needs to go after the European Title as he clearly isn’t at fringe world level after that performance.
I was very impressed with Furys heart but skill wise he was hugely disappointing. He started well, looking better, using jab, then he just abandoned the jab and throw telegraphed right handers for the rest of the fight. Big fan of Peter Fury, but he said he told Hughie to just go for it after the second, was wrong advice. Also to get his son go into the fight with a bad cut was wrong, when the cuts on the eye lid.
Agreed, they rolled the dice and it didn't pay off, but in hs defence without a well resourced promoter behind them it's probably a case of taking opportunities wherever and when ever they emerge. Probably makes it very difficult to give up a shot at an AJ mandatory.
Maybe if he was 34 instead of 24 mate. Plus a bad eye injury can finish your career or worse. It was a silly move. Then during the fight he would have been better moving more and using the jab instead of walking in throwing the same right hand shot repeatedly.
The tactics were pathetic. Any fit young man who could box and move ,should've picked Pulev apart on points. This has just set up another soft defence for AJ
Also how infuriating is channel 5 coverage of this fight? Cameras kept cutting away to people in the crowd during the fight.
Disappointed that CutThroatFade has been booted. Would love to have seen his response to the fight haha.
I'm a fan of Hughie but that was very disappointing. He gave up and just looked to survive towards the end. His footwork that was very good for the Parker fight was missing and his telegraphed right hand was horrendous viewing. Hope he can come back but Pulev schooled him.
12 rounds of trying to walk Pulev on to his big right hand that didn't look all that big. He looked so tired after round 5.
Hughie poisoned before the fight in the hotel? He looked slow & couldn't punch. Pulev looked like he was on some strong juice, be dead different when he's on the scales for the Anthony Duckua fight, dude will look proper sh*t.
He said he didn't want to get booted just so he can see the reaction once Fury puts a beating on Pulev. Maybe deep inside he knew what's going to happen and got himself booted on purpose lol.
