Why do people say he was found out against Parker? I had him winning that fight by two rounds. At worst it was very close. Hardly got found out.

Against Pulev he fought in a manner he'd never fought before and it went horribly wrong. He was in dreadful shape too which is uncharacteristic of Hughie. I can't get my head around that.

He simply needs to go back to how he fought against Parker. Light on his feet, slippery, counter punching, and improve those attributes further. He looked comfortable at world level that night.

His team need to put together a multi-fight plan starting at British level, passing through European level before finally having another crack at world level. Maybe do it over six fights. Then see where he's at.

His dad’s been very gracious about the defeat but by the sounds of it the fight should have got delayed or pulled due to that cut. He can thank Bakole for that one apparently.

Should have definetly been postponed. The IBF are putting fighters at risk by not allowing such a delay. They should get thier own doctor to check the fighter out and postpone fight as saying both camps need to agree to put fight back is a joke as in this case you can't blame Pulevs team from saying no. Also means they know the problem and can target it early as Pulev did. Instead of passing the buck the sanctioning bodies need to do their job.

Think its time to pack on weight. I don't think its by chance that half the divisions overweight. There must be some benefits of carrying that extra weight in the division. Otherwise I bet most of them would be in pretty good shape like every other division in boxing.

I think he could have got success in the division with the parker tactics. He badly needed a sensible career path tho. Which he's never really had. And also needed to learn when to change his defence into offence etc. Just knowing when to put it on an opponent and when to defend etc. The sensible career path would have helped with that.

They listened to the critics too much after parker. He only needed small changes and more winnable learning fights. Instead they completely changed him for pulev. No movement at all at the weekend. I think pulev would have been effective against the movement anyway. He,d have struggled with a two or three stone heavier fury tho. They need to stick weight on him now and get his endurance up....learn how to fight as a heavier fatter man. People will disagree with that cause boxing fans are almost obsessed with physiques. That extra weight keeps them in fights like the weekend tho. Fury tired. But you tire less when yove got the weight to deal with the physical struggle/wrestling etc. Absorb a punch better. Plus your punches with an extra two or three stone are more energy sapping for the opponent. For the majority speed isn't a massive asset in the division. Your losing too much stamina by banging out quick punches. Most I see fight slower than what they actually are conserving energy....absorbing shots and attempting to wear the opponent down with slow heavy shots using their weights to absorb it better. That's the game I,d do with Huey. Get on the weights but more importantly pack on two or three stone. Would make a big difference. Either that or get him thin and sharp with movement but stick him down a good level. He was a hard man to fight with the movement. Just needed developing. Never really had that with his career path.

Hughie needs more strength and has already been stated a 5 x5 programme would do him good. he also needs to work on his straight left and right. He has a good chin and with a bit of work can still reach the top. Think he over trains as well. Sometimes less is more

I’m still backing Hughie Fury to win a world title in the next 5 years. By the time he’s 30, the current crop will be in the twilight of their careers. He’ll have benefitted hugely from the experiences of his losses and he’ll be ‘naturally’ packing in best part of 17-18 stone of timber by then.

Although he can more than hold his own and survive 12 round with these world level fighters, he doesn’t yet know how to grab the bull by the horns so to speak and win successive rounds. His default is to go on the backfoot and look for that well timed counter...but by doing that you’re inviting your opponent to demonstrate ring generalship and effective aggression and therefore winning the round.

As he builds himself up against lower level opposition, he’ll learn how to win rounds, and with that he’ll develop more strength (as he gets older) which will in-turn increases his confidence in forcing the pace and enforcing his will on a fight.

If he’d suffered two vicious knockouts ‘Dave Price’ style or been smashed everywhere then yeah it’s clear that he doesn’t belong at this level, but he’s won rounds against these lads, he’s not touched the canvas, he’s had his successes...to write the kids career off right now at this stage is short sighted imo.
