Crawford levels above him which ruled him out being even close to elite fighters. Too many poor/mediocre World Champions around due to the plethora of belts - even Rocky Fielding and Chris Eubank Jnr calling themselves World Champions
It's certainly part of that, was never as good as was made out. Made the very best of the ability he had, so should be appluaded for that.
i never really rated him but i give him the martinez win as a world class win but even his win over katsides is overrated because he stopped mitchell and burns showed that wasnt difficult to do lol i may soumd like a hater but i cant rate this guy that high because of one good and a few decent wins lol
100 % its not burns thats overated himself its others like hearn and warren he seems like he tells it as it is
He was certainly much better to watch before the broken jaw and certainly surprised me with a few cracking performances. Never an elite fighter but his legacy is being reduced to rubble with most of these awful fights such as Indongo and Crolla
In fairness Hearn keeps giving him opportunities to rebuild and earn money. I would say issue has is, when he was with Frank he was protected and had in the main generous matchmaking whilst at Matchroom he hasn't and has often been found wanting.
To be fair peoole completely forget he has a win over Kiryl Relikh (who has improved), was a very close fight although it was at light-welter so its more impressive considering he shouldn't even been fighting at that weight. People also forget his performance against Figueroa, also not in his normal weight class and that was a good fight. Remember everyone said Burns was going to get KOed in that fight and he was finished and he put in that performance. He's generally underperformed as a favourite and always against Southpaws, so I won't hold one poor display against Indongo against him. He seems to relish being an underdog in general against a good fighter (as long as there not a southpaw!) Gets too much hate because of the 'draw' against Beltran. Yes we all know he lost.
I think the plan was to fight a week later in America. Presumably with the Cordina injury it makes sense making the Cardle-Burns fight. To be fair both boxers have had time to prepare / train so should at least be semi competitive.
Some of Burn’s scorecards have been bizarre to say the least. Unlucky not to get a draw against Crolla but can’t exactly complain with a ‘draw’ against Beltran and personally not completly convinced that the UD victory over Relikh was the correct result.
I think like pretty much everyone he lost wide to Bektran, think Relikh pipped him, though I thought he beat Crolla by a few rounds tbh. Ricky might not have been as good as some made out but if he fought Crolla anywhere near his best he would have beat him into next week.
This will be a good fight, neither of them have massive power so I can imagine there'll be some good exchanges. I reckon Burns in a close 6-4 kind of decision.
