Donaire was lighting his ass up at the end of the 3rd, the pressure from Nonito was stressing Ryan out, and caused him to have a nervous spasm.
I noticed that Donaire had started to touch him up as well. I think the incoming fire and pressure made one of Burnett's balls implode.
Donaire gets a huge break, both with the freak injury result and the tourney draw. The fight was not conclusive and it was really disappointing that we couldn't see how it would play out as it got deep. The first round was a feel out, Burnett's speed and activity definitely carried the second, Donaire looked physically comfortable and his timing was good in the third. It wasn't clear that Donaire could land his power flush. It wasn't clear that Burnett could outcondition and land with better accuracy and seize control. After the tourney Donaire should give Burnett a rematch. Donaire has a much more favourable stylistic matchup against Tete. Tete's slower than Donaire, and as rangy as he is doesn't use his length too well. He's also never been in with a puncher like Donaire, and I question his whiskers. I expect Nonito to outjab Tete while looking for countering opportunites, then find a hook that puts Tete to sleep!
I'm not underestimating Donaire.. He still has something left & I won't be shocked if he gets to the final.
The speed difference will be negligible. This isn't a 112 or 115 pound Donaire, this is an old Donaire, who just started cutting down to 118 again. Tete's hands aren't slow for a guy of his height. He should outbox Donaire to a clear decision. Tete gets flack for looking lackluster while outboxing a Russian who was a two time amateur world champion in his last fight. Nobody would expect a South African to outpoint a Russian with Aloyan's amateur pedigree, but he did. If I was his coach I'd of had him brawl, and take him out, but that's not in Tete's nature. I think that Tete actually having decent power makes people frustrated when watching him. He's never been a come forward destroyer. He's more a technical boxer, who plays it safety first. He usually drops his opponents at some point during his fights with a single head or body shot, but he doesn't seem to show any urgency in going for a finish. He has some defensive holes, and I'm not sure a few months is enough for Floyd Sr to correct them. Luckily for Tete, Donaire's money punch is the left hook, not the right cross.
Was it just me but I Felt like Nonito was performing a lot better than expected, before it I thought Nonito would be too past it and Burnett would stroll to a points win but i was wrong as I felt like Nonito was more than game in the rounds before Burnett suffered his injury and if his stamina could have been there throughout then I could have seen Nonito possibly winning on points as he was impressive at points against Burnett, if he performs against tete like he started against Burnett then donaire imo can deffo win this fight, this is just my opinion anyway
