was thinking about boxers who have been world champion and you just wonder how has he managed that For example Charles Martin won the IBF title and two fights before he won that he fought Tom dallas I understand glazkov got injured in the fight but that doesn’t hide the fact Charles Martin was a world champion
Th that was meant to be an easy defence so de gale wasn’t stripped then he vecates after winning it because he doesn’t fancy his chances against jose uzcategui
I dont believe in 'worse' champions..fighters train hard to get that strap so whether i like them or not i got respect.
Some work harder than others, some get them handed on a plate (eg Ricky Burns v Bepe Di Marco from Eastenders) and others simply go through careers fighting puddings (eg Wilder to date). For every elite World Champion, there are at least 5 puddings who have won belts. The status of 'World Champion' significantly diluted as a result.
I get they train hard but some of them have limited ability you look at the super middle weight division when truax beat de gale he was 15th in the rankings you had other guys in the ranking who would have beat truax who would have been more suited to being a world champion for example if Caleb plant/rocky fielding or even direll beat de gale it wouldn’t have been massive shock Truax will never win another world title again I’m sure of that I would be surprised if he even fought for one again
Hahaha bepe di Marco All that is/was is the wba selling the belt to the highest bidder I’m sure the light heavyweight champion the wee young fellow forgot his name now but I’m sure when he became champion he beat some 74 ranked challenger to win the belt Dmitri bivol v Trent backhurst?
I like Liam Smith but the guy he beat to become world champion was British level at best. Then again the Italian Ricky Burns beat wasnt even as good as British level LWWs.
Traux was defo right place right time, but at least he beat a decent fighter world class (even if injuries mean he probably isn't a force anymore) Crolla is another one right place right time but did he really beat a true world-class fighter to get a belt? Not so sure Burns also sprung to mind how the Italian was fighting for a strap ill never know. What about Juan Urango arguably lost v Ben Rabeh but got a title belt that Hatton then took of him
Take a look at who has been world champion in the weak Light Welterweight division over the last 13 years - so many poor chamions.. And the Light Middleweight division. Light Welterweight Cesar Cuenca, Gavin Rees, Amir Khan, Devon Alexander, Past it retired fat Erik Morales, past it Ricky Burns, Junior Witter, Souleymayne Mbaye, Lovemore N'dou, Jessie Vargas, Julius Indogno, Lamont Peterson, Andreas Kotelnik, Paulie Malignaggi, Juan Urango, Chris Algieri, Kendall Holt, Mike Alvarado, Danny Garcia, Riccardo Torres, Carlos Maussa, Vivien Harris, Adrien Broner, Khabib Allakhverdiev, Viktor Postol, past it Zab Judah, Eduard Troyanovksy, Maurice Hooker Light Middleweight Cory Spinks, Ishe Smith, Cornelius Bundrage, Carlos Molina, Yuri Foreman, Joachim Alcine, Austin Trout, Verno Phillips, Sadam Ali, Liam Smith, Sergio Mora,
Callum smith; faught nobody until he beat groves when he should’ve been disqualified for the blatant punch in the back ofctye head.
He's not one of the worst champions but Cleverly won all. Of his belts (Commonwealth, British, European and WBO World) by his opponent getting injured before the fight took place.
Barry Jones. He won the WBO super featherweight title apparently, I'm not sure I believe it though. Check out the record on the guy he beat for the belt, it's laughable. Can someone confirm this for me.
