This is true...it just saddens me a little when you consider what a quality gentleman Donaire is, and how he didn’t really celebrate his win and instead consoled Bennett. I really hope it’s just coincidence.

I do hope Eddie can steer Burnett to some solid money fights in the least amount of fights possible so he can get out of the game asap. I’ve always worried about how smashed up he gets after pretty much every fight, the dodgy brain scan stuff earlier In his career, now this latest injury caused by Donaire. It’s all very concerning.

What he said to Booth in the corner is pretty conclusive to me that either the body shot caused the injury or the injury was pre existing. To maintain integrity Burnett and Booth need to clarify this and let everyone know exactly what is going on.

Seemed as if Booth knew what Burnett was talking about already, I agree with those saying he was injured going into the fight.

    What a load of bollocks.

Have some respect and let him recover without your 9/11 conspiracy theories.

It’s a proper shame for Burnett because up until the injury it was a career best performance from him. It was brilliant.

He was merely commenting to booth on a certain shot that caught him and they discussed calmly on how to address it and not be caught again. There was no panicking. The injury happened immediately on throwing the backhand and burnett reacted how anyone would react when skeletal muscle comes away Grow up everyone and watch it properly

It’s probably a dusk injury ... not a pulled muscle. Burnett has a history of back trouble. A disc can’t be fixed. It CAN be removed altogether which gives a partial solution but either way it’s very bad news for Burnett.

So you're saying Burnett is lying about it being a torn and partially detached muscle? Why would he do that?!

It was a legit TKO, Donaire hurt him with the shot, a rib, maybe bruised a muscle in the 2nd, then it got too much to bear, and finally cramped up in the 4th, so he rightfully pulled out. It was a legit delayed reaction TKO win for Nonito. It shouldn't take them a week to release details on an injury.

Just saw the report on the injury. Jonny v was correct. I suspected disc trouble cos Ryan has a history of disc trouble. It's still very serious. This is Ryan's second career episode of serious back injurie... Back injuries are seriously disabling , even for a sedentiary worker. Insidious and disastrous for a boxer.

Totally wrong. It was NOT a tko. It was an accidental back injury. Nothing to do with donnaire at all.

He did hurt him with that body shot mate, he was in all sorts of trouble from it and Donaire was putting it on him in the corner. I’m hoping you’re right and it’s unrelated to the body shot as I want to believe in the integrity of Burnett & his team.

I can't see any connection between any donnaire "phantom punch" and Ryan's injury.
No punch from nonito concerned him at all. In fact he I was worried that he might get himself stupidly hurt by a monitor punch a few times as he was being over confident, even careless, and not respecting nonitos power enough at all IMO. Backing into the corner etc etc. Pretty rash stuff at times.
BUT all of that has nothing to do with the injury. . ..
He was in the centre of the ring bossing it nicely when he reached with a long right and tore muscle in his back.

(Don't you think if Donnaire DID hurt him with a body shot he would claim credit for it or at the very least make SOME reference to it? Donnaire himself completely accepted that he won by freak injury to his opponet and has never even remotely suggested that anything he did contributed to RYans injury. ) .
I don't know where this "phantom body shot" theory has come from. ........
