Froch - in the ring, great boxer. Froch - out of the ring, a bit of a verbal tosser. Did he mention 80k?
To be honest George could properly have got up. His body language looked like someone who had enough. If we remember he still got up to try and continue from Froch's hayemaker but didn't or maybe just couldn't from the onslaught from Smith. The way he was shaking his head tells me he had enough. I think with the heart George has showed throughout his career, that Froch should have kept his thoughts to himself.
Totally agree about holding on to a grudge. Froch is the sort of person if you accidentally spilled his pint and bumped into him ten years later it's the first thing he'd bring up. There's an unlikeable bitterness about Froch I just don't get. He's been successful, has loads of money and a tasty wife but still feels he has to slag off ex foes. You think he would be a bit more chilled out these days. Maybe he's just a git.
I think its the ones that effected him mentally, made him question himself. instead of being honest about it and admitting Ward bettered him, he just cant face that because he knows the truth, he was outclassed. He loves Kessler because even though he lost, he has that win as well, and the excuse as to why he lost the first fight. the way he gushes over his fellow warrior is transparent. Groves made Carl look a bit silly, exposing just how vain he is with the "international superstar" line etc, he never seems to have forgiven that, I saw a clip of him and his family still calling George a disrespectful scumbag, but the fact is he just called Carl out for the arrogant, insecure man he is. I really think Carl is getting worse with it as well, he isn't mellowing at all in retirement, he is almost calling fighters out!
So he's been beat off of two guys who have nothing special about them average boxers Who in turn did more than george as done Respect is a two way street George never showed it so in return whilst achieving less in the same trade When he was launching his appeal to the ibf i said at the time be careful what you wish for i will say it again fighting froch twice took years off of groves career made him old way before his time imo But at least he got his rematch which froch can forever hold over him That's the thing when you lose a grudge match to your arch nemesis takes balls Hence hatton witter not happening we all know junior would have took that and Khan brook we all know brook wants it Ummm this should be took into account when legacies are spoken of This content is protected
George knew he couldn't beat Smith. After a long, tough career, he would've been an idiot to continue. He knows only too well the dangers fighters can experience.
A body shot can be every bit as debilitating as a head shot, perhaps even more so. However, the effects generally aren't as obvious to the naked eye. With the odd exception (eg Jones Vs Virgil Hill) any time fighter gets taken out with a body shot they have to face accusations that they quit, they could have got up, or even that the fight was fixed. Unless there's any curious circumstances around the fight, the fighter should really be given the benefit of the doubt. As for Froch, there is a certain dignity in boxing where you have a beef with someone, settle it in the ring, and then draw a line and move on. Froch continuing to take shots at Groves years later comes across as a bit pathetic. More bizarre though, is that he seems to want something from Groves, whatever the hell that might be. Over four years ago, he knocked a guy stiffer than a honeymoon erection in front of I don't know how many people, yet he seems to be the one without closure. Froch doesn't seem to have any obvious issues, so he probably just likes being a dick.
I respect Froch as fighter but i've never liked him as a person, he's a slightly "nicer" version of Bellew.
Froch was a great fighter but he's a narcissist, the whole world evolves around him & he has to be constantly praised for his achievements. When he isn't & someone else is,he can't stand it!
I think he could have gotten back up so he did quit, I wish more British fighters were at tough as Carl Froch even if he does come across as a bit of a tosser.
Totally agree with this. They go through hell to just get fight ready and then give it everything on fight night. Tasteless by Froch and generally anyone using that “logic”.
Exactly. I find his interviews entertaining because it's just so blatant. You could use clips from them at a psychologists conference
I don't think he quit, he tried his best and come up short, was badly hurt off a left hook and then had the wind taken out of his sails with a vicious body shot, ten seconds is asking quite a lot to recover from both of those after an hard fight. So does Froch think Brook and Bellew are both quitters then?
