Rumors that Wilder was dropped in sparring by one of his sparring partners, but I guess it's nothing new for Wilder to get dropped
Most likely, probably wanted to show Wilder what would've happened in their fight if he wasn't paid to take a dive
So what, he wouldnt be the 1st Boxer to get floored in sparring, infact way too much gets made of Boxers getting dropped in sparring sessions. Sparring is there for a reason, one of those reasons is trying new things, things that dont work and when you get it wrong you get dropped. Alot more Boxers get put down in training than we ever get to hear about.
I saw a video where Dylian Whyte said that he has "knocked Tyson Fury down more times than he can remember" in sparring. Is it true? Who knows, but Whyte seems to be the only guy that Fury doesn't do his macho routine with.
You know I need no excuse to give Wilder criticism but.. True or not, It's just sparring, you spar hundreds of rounds and sometimes you get caught with a perfectly timed shot, sometimes you get lazy and complacent and get caught and sometimes you're just a little vulnerable. If true, whatever the reason the most this would have done is maybe give his confidence a little knock and/or sharpen his mind and get him to concentrate harder which will be beneficial. If there are more stories coming out about him getting dropped or rocked again in this camp then maybe it's something worth looking at and questioning.
Meh, it's sparring and we all know Wilder doesn't have an iron chin, hell he probably just tripped over one of his own spindly legs while doing his silly spin maneuver. It's meaningless.
Here in the amateurs, despite being protected by the referee, he gets floored. This is why Wilder has been so cautiously matched, and has avoided all the prime decent heavyweights like Breazeale, Povetkin, Parker, Whyte and Miller: This content is protected
That was before he leveled up and put all his points in constitution. We all criticize his easy opponent choices, but he was just grinding to gain easy experience points. We'll see if it's enough because Tyson Fury put all his experience points in dexterity and magic.
Meh.. I wouldn’t put too much stock in it. I remember hearing stories about Deontay being dropped before the Dustin Nichols and Sconiers fights too and he still got The Worm and Dustin out of there. If he overcame being dropped in the lead ups before squaring off with those killers... Fury should be a cakewalk. No worries. And remember Wlad knocked Deontay into another Yulaverse three times in their camp and it still didn’t stop Deontay from beating the formidable Kelvin Price.
True or not, it’s meaningless. Sparring is sparring, whether you’re doing a few rounds with the same guy, or doing 12 rounds with 4 different fighters. Now if he was regularly getting beaten up by a promising prospect I’d maybe read more into it.
