I am well and truly at peace.

It would have been a travesty had he won, we would have never had heard the end of it for him and the Sky cheerleaders.

Nelson and Froch in particular have shown their true casual colours with ridiculous statements that Bellew was ‘technically better’ than Usyk, or that Usyk had never been ‘tested’.

It also dispels the myth that Bellew was the best cruiserweight in the world when he was WBC champ, had he faced Bredis he’d have lost.

Never the less I wish him a happy retirement with his beloved wife and kids lol.

I don’t like Bellew but I respect him being genuinely magnanimous in defeat.

The Sky and Matchroom cheerleading is annoying though. All their fighters clearly told to spread the propaganda on social media and even the commentary team (Paulie aside) were ludicrously biased.

I get that they’ll back their man but people can see through it. Wish they were a bit more objective. Froch, Nelson etc - just so boring to hear them spreading propaganda.

Disgusting post. Bellew has literally given it his all tonight and some keepboard warrior slays him off. Moron.

That was brutal!! A sad way for him to end his career but he was classy in defeat.
Was also kind of scary listening to him when he had no idea what the round or punch was.

Have to give Eddie Hearn props. The reach out to his head when he fell, cleaning the blood from his face etc.
In a sport full of leeches and conmen, there was genuine concern and a great relationship there.
Compare it to other promoters bleeding fighters dry and dropping them.
He gets a lot of grief but he was classy here.

Without wanting to give an unqualified medical diagnosis while staring at a screen from the comfort of my sofa, I wouldn't be surprised if Bellew was concussed. It was a heavy knockout, he didn't seem to remember details of the fight/knockout, and he must have congratulated Usyk and kissed his head at least a dozen times.

I understand the role of the post-fight interview, but it can be uncomfortable viewing seeing a guy being asked to articulate a wide range of emotions minutes after getting flattened. Really the priority should be getting him checked out and giving him a chance to recuperate.

He hasn’t slagged him off at all. Read his post again.

Fans have paid money over the years to set Bellew up for life. Fans are entitled to say what they want I doubt Tony would give a ****.

Agree with that. Clearly needed medical attention and quickly. I don’t particularly like the guy but I respect him for giving it a good go against a brilliant fighter.

    I don’t think he’ll stay retired though..

Why post something like that. What do you honestly gain? Bellew achieved more than most can ever dream of. He had to talk himself up as he believed he could do it. Sky has to as they have a product to sell. The guy lost to a better man but nonetheless was a world champ and is now a multimillionaire. Fair play to him

In terms of the fight, Bellew came in with a good gameplan that he executed well for a few rounds. Usyk started walking him down from the 6th round onwards, and a stoppage looked likely regardless of how the fight was getting scored.

Certainly no shame for Bellew, and it was certainly a much better performance than the last time he fought at the elite level. He can leave the sport (hopefully) knowing he tested himself at the best, and left it in the ring.

I think the way that ended he will stay retired.

One because he's got no more to prove for himself and mainly because his partner will certainly will not want him too after that ending.

Yeah he has a concussion of some sort for sure. Joe Rogan stopped post fight interviews as a result of what happened just now.

Credit to Bellew he boxed well for first few rounds but the gulf in class came through.

I wish him a happy retirement.

Bellew was clearly still out of it in the post fight interviews. I did feel sorry for him he fought a great fight. After 5 rounds I thought he was going to pull it off.
