Pavlik has the slight edge in reach, but it shouldn't be a deciding factor in the battle of the jabs which will inevitably take place. The superior jab, and the man with the greater footwork and sense of distance will win that

Pavlik (I think) is also slightly taller, and more wiry looking. Kessler has a much thicker frame, especially in the arms and I'd imagine the legs. It's quite an interesting comparison if you check the weigh in pics, I compared them a while ago

Overall, Pavlik looks like a man that will develop into the weight, and probably end up at 175 one day whereas Kessler looks like a man busting a gut to make SMW already

How so? To beat Pavlik you'll have to out work him, moving side to side.
Kessler is a stand up guy, move back and forth fighter. Strong but not a boxer, not hard to hit, or IMO a big puncher. Pavlik wins by UD, or late TKO. Kessler win try his best, and it would be a great fight.

I've thought that about Kessler too. I do not recall hearing about problems making wieght, but damn, he looks huge at 168.

Remember, Kessler almost didn't make weight against Calzaghe. I believe he had to strip down to his briefs finally. Pavlik is rangy. Surprisingly, no one that I can recollect has ever effectively taken it to Pavlik's body. I wonder how he'd stand up to heavy shots at the ribs.

He's a textbook boxer. You paint him to be some Miranda type with that description

He's not a huge puncher, but a good puncher with excellent timing. A lot of guys would drop from those uppercuts landed on Calzaghe, anybody can see they are hard punches.

No, that aint true. Kessler has a better, faster and more powerfull jab than Pavlik. Also - their power might be about the same.

A thing that will be the deciding factor is that Kessler has a very good defence while Pavlik's is leaky.

Kessler will land more power punches and I dont Believe that Kelly could take it. TKO Kessler 8 is a solid prediction.

I dont think that team Pavlik is interested in this fight at all. HUGE risk and atm no reward.

Kessler sjould have just KTFO Miranda before collecting those belts. That would have kept his market value up there.

I mistrust anything that comes from Team Palle.

Yeah, because Pavlik wants big name/big money fights now. He's becoming a star. It's one thing to put it all on the line against a pfp great like Calzaghe (a lot of risk but a lot of potential reward) but a Kessler is all risk and very little reward. He's completely unknown in the US. An impressive win against a relatively big name like Miranda would have gone a long way toward ensuring a fight against Pavlik. Still could happen though, I hope.

You may be missing my point here. Go back to the Zuniga fight, and work forward. You'll see that NONE of Kelly's best wins came against orthodox, stand-up boxers. So far the evidence suggests that Kelly does very well against swarmers, brawlers, southpaws, et. We've yet to see him in the ring with someone who brings what Kessler brings. My prediction? Pavlik UD12 Kessler. I don't think Kessler can handle round after round after round of Pavlik type pressure.

I tell you what, if Pavlik can stand up to that jackhammer jab, the overhand rights and uppercuts of Kessler, and still emerge victorious, I will have tremendous respect for the guy as a fighter (not that I don't already, mind you) He's stepping into whole other world from MW.

Again, Kessler vs Pressure power puncher is excactly the thing Kessler needs.

He will counter and outjab Pavlik. Sorry to say so, but Pavlik doesnt have the defensive skills, the speed or the stylistically unorthodox style to beat Kessler.

And you can just take that to the bank. Its a fact.

Tell Arum that the best SMW is Bute...not Kessler...
