It was competitive for 4 rounds but it was always gonna end up this way. I think the fight went exactly the way Usyk wanted to so I wouldn't call it competitive.

By the look of it, Bellew could still drop 6-8kg. His body fat percentage seems pretty high to me for a cruiserweight.

Now when I rewatched the fight, it is pretty obvious that the first two rounds were a total gift by Usyk. Definitely staged shitshow in England. Yes Bellew did very good and no one expected this from him, but cmon guys Usyk couldve easily do a 120 108.

I don't think it was staged, more Usyk having supreme confidence in his ability to get the win so not caring about throwing away the early rounds to figure Bellew out and school him in style later.

It wasn't competetive, that's like saying Khan Garcia was competetive. Bellew could fight Usyk another 9 times in a row and he'd be 0-10.

Usyk is a patient killer, when he got Bellew in the corner shortly before the KO he was ruthless. The fact he used early rounds to get the measure of Tony instead of getting straight to work and getting rounds in the bag like in the Briedis fight shows he knew the end result was inevitable. At no point did Bellew push him, he was comfortable and in control.

Perhaps if Bellew has spent the last couple of years fighting in the CW division against credible opponents instead of wasting his time yoyo-ing up and down in weight in pursuit of novelty money fights he wouldn't have come in like a fat lad with a woeful engine and could have made more of a fight out of it. As it stands he did ok until Usyk turned the screw, started blowing out of his arse at the midway point and got merked.

    Not competetive.

I agree with everything you wrote apart from the last bit lol.

I just guess we disagree on the definition of what is competitive, because we clearly agree on everything else.

A little head movement from an opponent and Usyk was lost in there. I had Bellew up by three rounds at the stoppage.

Someone made a good analogy on Twitter.

They compared it to a football (soccer...) game where you team has a good spell in the first 15 minutes. Not dominating but having the better of things. They then go on to lose 5-0.
